Thanks ichi.

Pm sent already, but again, looking forward to figuring out the whole forums thing, as this is my first time dealing with this kind of stuff. I have always been on the technical side, (engineering and fabrication.) so marketing and such is new to me.

This doesn't look to offer as much protection as one would assume. It may strengthen the bumper but protection I don't think so. Most of the scrapes are on the front leading edge of the bumper, at least the ones one could see. Y not just get a poly lip which offers more protection and looks good as well? Just my opinion

My BRZ bumper is scraped on the bottom and would have been protected had these plates been in place. You can't see the scrapes unless looking for them. Very few would expect a plate on the bottom to protect the front anyway. That's not what these accomplish. I'm confident they'll protect the bottom and add strength to the lower lip area.

I'm looking forward to installing them. My set just arrived today.

the BRZ kits use more hardware, and are larger, so they are a few bucks more expensive than the FRS kits, but they cover better, so it pretty much balances out.
This deal still open? I would like a BRZ set if possible.

Dipstick,

you bring up some good points about the ProTEKt skidplates, and I think I might have a few answers for you.

First, you are correct that they don't protect the "front" of the bumper. they are not intended to function as a nerf bar, nor are they a substitute for careful driving. their main function was to eliminate damage, and hold up to the absolutely unavoidable contact that comes with steep driveways and speed bumps.

Second, my plates are made from 3/8 thick High Density Polyethylene, and have recessed, countersunk stainless hardware, and are made specifically to scrape the ground over and over, and still look good. I ran a lip for about 6 months on my car, and there were 2 basic problems that I encountered.

1. It made the front of the car even lower than before, and I scraped hard on every dip in the road (it was nearly impossible to get in my own driveway!)

2. After a few months, it looked terrible, (mine was CF, but I have seen lots of PU lips that also look pretty beat up after a few months of use) as it wasn't made to be abused. eventually, I hit a cone autocrossing, and completely destroyed it.

Third, I think that you are correct that a lip would be a good solution for some people. if your main area of concern is directly in the front, from high, square curbs and parking bricks, my parts won't help much, and I admit there are some really good looking lips out there. (in fact, I have sold several skidplates to people that are running a lip, too, just to help for a super secure and durable install.)

Anyways, I have included a pic detailing how the plates interact with the forward part of the bumper on the BRZ, hopefully showing that you would have to be hitting something pretty steep (like a curb or a brick or something) to contact the bumper itself. It is kind of ironic that a BRZ driver would bring it up, as I was pretty pumped about how good the coverage is for that car!!

Thanks! glad to hear you liked them!

Pics, maybe? the car i used for development was pretty beat up, and it would be cool to have a few shots of them on a nice car!
