I walked into the auto parts store on a fact-finding mission but when I saw how close it looked and how inexpensive it was I just took it.

There's a slight issue with the guide for the banjo fitting. I will have to cut off one of the bosses so the fitting can be aligned at 45° like the OEM cylinder. The hose is a little too tight now considering how much the engine rocks in the mounts. Minor shit.
This is gonna be tempting for me now lol...

How hard was the install? I've never changed out a slave cylinder before. Do you foresee any implications this could create in the future?

Zero issues for component wear or otherwise.

Driving it in this morning with stop & go I can see where some might not like the slightly heavier pedal but it's no worse than my brother's 911. Just feels more raw and sporty. Looking forward to @Andrew025's feedback.

As far as the installation? I'm removing it again this weekend to cut off the banjo fitting guide. I'll take photos and do a writeup but fear not, if you can adjust your clutch pedal throw, this will be easy for you. Just don't be a slob and don't crumple your fender.

Sweet, my clutch pedal is already adjusted to be parallel with my brake pedal.

Look forward to the writeup! Sounds like you're happy with the setup so far. I'm surprised this thread isn't getting more attention, we can't be the only ones O.o

To say I'm happy is an understatement. Driving home today I was able to pull like a boss just rocking back on my heel. This is the SHIT!

My guess is a lot of folks are lurking with some scepticism. No, I am quite certain we are in good company.

in what way does it feel different? can you actually feel engagement point properly now?

Im quite surprised a 1mm diameter drop would make the difference you're suggesting, Nice!

Im a believer btw haha

It's tough to describe in words but I think @hmong337 described it the best; at least we shared the same experience when he said

That wide window of slip is dramatically shortened so it's much easier to predict or feel when you have enough engagement to goose the throttle.

It just feels normal. It took no practice or getting used to because I no longer have to think about it and compensate.

1/16" difference in the diameter doesn't seem like much until you consider the mechanical advantage of the hydraulic system is a ratio of the cross sectional area of the cylinders. Since area changes with respect to the square of the radius, a little goes a long way.

I'm available this Sunday-Tuesday.
Let me know what works for you.

You need this. Everyone needs this. I think the choice to go to a bigger slave was a last-minute decision after all the part placement was set in stone.

I'm guessing some suit drove it and whined about it being too stiff.

Man this is exciting. I've hated this clutch since day one and after 23k miles I still hate it/can't drive it. Feels like a broken toilet handle, there is no feedback.

Did it only make the pedal heavier or did it create a distinct point of engagement out of an otherwise vague process? I'm skeptical but also fully prepared to buy a slave cylinder and machine off the banjo retainer just to try this.

The latter - 100%. @Andrew025 and I are meeting up tomorrow morning so he can drive it.

@Phantobe found this one. The picture on his shows a groove at the same angle as the OEM. http://www.autozone.com/drivetrain/c...er/383444_0_0/

Looks like the AutoZone part might be the same as the 30620-AA111. The compound angles on the banjo area look the same to me.

edit: If the line doesn't fit with your slave then I don't see why you couldn't just route it like this -3 AN line from @Chase Bays. If he's still on the forum, maybe he can comment on the effect of reducing the line size (which should in effect be the same as shrinking the slave size, barring any potential existence of a delay valve).

edit again:

Now I wonder what might be different in the part you bought versus the original part from Subaru. Yours might be lacking a delay valve (if it exists) where the OEM parts have them. Just a thought.
