Before he switched everything over to modern porcelain, my old man would say to shake his urn. If there was no metallic rattling, we should hunt down the mortician.

It is such a strange thing .. mouth full of gold, take it to your grave.. I suppose archaeologist in the future will strike gold in the literal sense.. unless you've been cremated.

Did some wet sanding to quarter panel and door to get the orange peel out from the body shops reclearing most of that side, then polished and ceramic coated. Not bad for a car about to cross 100k miles!

Changed the filters and oil yesterday. Got it jacked up and all secured.
Placed the fumoto drain and empty jug, then knocked the tube into the jug when I went to open it. Oil all over. Moved the jug to catch what's left, then that filled and overflowed as well. Argh! Deployed the kitty litter to soak it up. Definitely much easier to change the air filter if you unbolt it all to give enough slack. At least the garage has a smooth concrete floor that was easy to de-grease and wash down once I got the car out of the way. Two hours instead of 30 minutes this time. Slow is fast.

Not really what I did, but learned that my 86 will be totaled due to extensive hail damage. Just trying to negotiate a little better payout before finalizing things.

Sold it yesterday. It was a sad moment letting go of a car with which we have tons of good memories, and which has been present through many important moments of my life, but I felt after seven years it was time. I have a good feeling the next owner will take good care of it.
These are awesome cars, with an awesome community. I've rarely seen a forum where everyone was just so nice and willing to help each other, and take things easy. It's sad though that there's less & less activity on the board. I'll stick to the 911 for a few months, and then will probably replace it with something that has four doors. Living the dad life . |

I remember when I had to give up my 1970 BGB-GT for a 4 door car, (dad life). However, after the kids were grown, I got a miata and drove it for 10 years. Then, when my granddad life started, I discovered I couldn't get all three granddaughters in the miata, so I traded it for my FR-S. Yep, all three would fit - Now that they are older (and much bigger), I found they all fit better in our Honda CR-V. However, I do keep the FR-S for running to the doctor's office, the dentist's office, the pharmacy the smoke shop - You too can come full circle - Last edited by humfrz; 07-08-2024 at 06:18 PM. |

Pick something like we did. Don't despair, four doors doesn't mean boring or an EV.
