Yeah, I was lucky to have a good dealer (in Red Deer) who wasn't out to screw people (first I've met). I paid msrp (31,300) + 395 doc fee and that was it. No tax since it was a lease. They didn't try to tack anything on either, I was amazed. Got one of the first to come in for Alberta too, and I didn't haggle or do anything, the price was the price.

Did you have to pay for delivery & freight?
I'd be financing, so I think I'm stuck with the taxes regardless....

Not sure why car salesmen even exist when all they do is give you the price you already see on the website, haha.

It was included in that price (the exact price was 31226.25 incl freight, PDI, etc + 395 doc).

I think normally the salesmen only exist to shake you down for whatever they can get, particularly judging by some of these markups over msrp.

No. Taxes are added onto payments with a lease instead of upfront.

So you'll be paying taxes on your monthly payments.

yeah. It's just not on my invoice for the OTD price. If I had financed, it would be.

Ohh okay I see, then you'd be paying more or less the same as financing in the end. I went with financing because I wanted to own it after 2 years, and lease vs finance the final price was pretty much the same (finance was $100 more? or something).

I'll find my bill of sale later, but until then... if I was buying a car in the US it wouldn't have been an FRS/BRZ. You can get a used elise in great shape for $20k usd easily. I was actually going to import one, but it's on the RIV inadmissible list

You can also get a WRX for $25k USD.

yup, I was mentioning the lease so people wouldn't mistake the price as including the taxes; the prices should be otherwise identical. I leased because I can write it off for business. I intend to buy it out when the lease is up.

I'm thinking about financing, but just waiting on better Canadian prices and/or the 2014 model. I think I might end up waiting for a long time though... because the prices are still too high.

Just last month or so, the MSRP for the FRS increased ~300. Not sure about the BRZ.
