Therefore I am now running in STR class. My current Plan is to compete in STR until the star specs wear out and get back into stock class with next Dunlops on the 16" wheels.
I just bought a RX8 front sway bar for $75 on eBay.
BTW, this is my second NC and third Miata ownership.
Nice car. If you really wanted to stay in stock class you should have gone with an 07 although locally I dont think people would complain if you had an 06 with the msr gear

I learned about it but there were no 07 Miata w/ 5 spd in the area and right price range.
My 06 is plenty good for me. I am still the limiting factor.

One of my good buddies (now RIP) used to have one of those. Brings back great memories hooning that thing over back roads w/him. Fun car to drive, even stock. Congrats on the addition!

sparco assetto gara. 17x7. Offset is 45mm so if you lowered your car it might rub.
Miata OEM offset is 55mm. 43lbs with 215/45/17 Dunlop star spec.

They used to be on my Veloster.

nice - reason I ask is just because of weight concerns - I'm trying to stick with 16's and it's hard to find something that is lighter than or equal to stock

My stock 16" wheels are in storage waiting for winter.. The sparco wheels were advertised as 17.5 lb on Tirerack.com And the Dunlops were supposed to be 22 lbs. But when I weighed them they weighed 3-4 lbs more together.
Light wheels are expensive.

Get the OEM FD RX-7 hollow spokes. They are 16x8 and weigh about 16lbs each plus you can run a bigger tire like a 225/45.

If you just want a stock for stock performance only swap, one option I have been looking at is these guys: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...t+Grey+Painted

~12 pounds in 16" - teports of them breaking, but mostly from BMW drivers with heavier cars to contend with. Also lets you run stock tire sizes if that's your thing, or you can step up to the 17's.

First post. Hey guys! This BRZ thing has my excited about cars again for some reason! Im anxious to see how it performs with some suspension goodies. The MX5s really go to the next level with good suspension and sticky tires...and really go to the next level with any supporting mods.

Kinda the opposite of most the posts here, I never really paid attention to Miatas until the NC came out...and now I love them all.

With the 17x7 lowered, the camber should be to your advantage...maybe need to roll your rear fenders, but probably not. I know a 17x8 +48 with a 235 will fit without rubbing, lowered.

My fenders are rolled just slightly to fit 17x9 (15~lbs)/+45/245s.
