No. There is not a separate plant making engines for Toyotas. These cars are made side by side at the same time on the same assembly lines. This whole "The Toyotas are built differently" is a myth.

People who don't know what they are talking about like to sound like they do on the internet.

On one of the facebook groups I just saw someone say the best alignment you can have is 0 caster/toe/camber. He obviously doesn't even know what caster is or what it does.

The amount of young guys that are too lazy to do any basic research on how things work is mind boggling.

He said it would have to a part/part number that the dealer itself can look up and order
Not surprising at all.

Another update about the STI baffled oil pan, both good and bad

Good: I have officially paid for one and am waiting for an eta. I’ll keep everyone posted.

Bad: My dealer refuses to install it. As much as I hate to do this, I’m gonna check other dealers and see what they say

Sounds a lot like "left and right" Twix...

I'd be surprised if any dealer would install aftermarket parts because they have to document their entire process, and time-studies for aftermarket stuff varies by manufacturer, let alone "voiding warranties per the customer's request." You don't have any local shops near you that would do it?

It is funny because you read all sorts of bull about the two.
"They are made in different plants"
"They batch build all one colour at a time so you have to wait for that colour"
"The ones that they have problems with get made as Toyotas and the good ones are BRZs"

Oh so many stories!

In reality they not only are made on the same line at the same time they are interspaced on the line among the other models made in the plant.

I asked my Subaru service dept if they would install the duckbill spoiler for my BRZ while I did the loan paperwork.

Since it didn't come in a Subaru box, they said no. Told me to call an aftermarket shop they trust. They wanted $400 in labor. Which is what I paid for the damn thing shipped.

Guess I'm going to have to go back to not being too lazy to work on my car again.

I installed my own duckbill a couple weekends back and admittedly, it was slightly terrifying. Didn't like the feeling of drilling into my brand new car. lol

I mean it doesn't even make sense that they would build a low volume car in separate factories like that. Haven't heard that for a good 10 years
