It's not that fewer people are buying Subarus, it's that there are fewer Subarus to buy. Case in point, my wife wanted a Forester. To get what she wanted there was a 2-3 month wait and no guarantee she'd get her first choice colour. However, 3-4 weeks got her the exact model and colour Crosstrek she'd decided on.
Our local Subaru Dealer told us when the wife signed her deal that they were waiting on over 60 units that were sold. Many other customers of theirs did what my wife had and switched models or even went for low mileage trades. Because the inventory is that low!

We are weeks into the wait for my wife's Ascent. They still don't even have a VON and say it could be months before they get down the que to building hers. They just received 4 for stock at our dealership but none in what she wanted.
