Those who coming from the TC??

i really like to hear a honest opinion on the FRS compared to the TC?

i mean the engine power/torque , not the style obviously the styling cant compete with the FRS!

i have not have a chance to drive a manual FRS .

My TC has decent torque at low rpm so how is that compare to the FRS?
I am happy with my TC's power its modest , but i like how the FRS handels turns and everything else, that's the impression i got from my short autocross test drive .

i hope this have not been discussed before here
sorry if it has

Thanks guys !!

Having owned an 08 and an 11 tC... The FRS is super sweet. Not only does it feel and sound better, it takes the road like it means it.

The only complaint I had about my 07 tC was that it was a 5 speed. That was my only complaint. My tC is probably one of the few, if not the only one that was loaded onto a US Navy Amphib and taken with me from Nola through the Panama Canal, and back to San Diego. I had alot of history with my tC and it was a tough call to trade it in, but I love the FR-S. Being so stable is great because I am not a stop and turn type. I prefer to whip it everywhere, and whip it good.

the 5 speed only bothers me when im on the highway and like to save gas but the thing is still spins at 2700rpm at 60MPH, same as the FRS at 60 in 6th gear but i guess the six speed helps to use the engine torque better .

The comparison might be more favorable versus the 2nd generation tC, but against the first, like my departed '10, there is *no* comparison. The FR-S is a better car in every way.

I used to have a 05 tC mt, and drove it for 7 years. To me, the tC feels stronger at 2k rpm and below, but the FR-S is actually faster. May be it is because the FR-S revs much faster. Once it's above 2k rpm, it feels stronger and faster than the tC. For handling, FR-S and tC are in different leagues. My tC had trd springs, trd stocks, trd sway bar, a DC strut bar, and it was on 225 Hankook v12, but there was no comparison to the FR-S. The tC felt top heavy and had more body roll, more understeer, and less precise steering. FR-S is a much better car all around.

I'm coming from a 2010 tC with the TRD suspension options (shocks, springs, sway bars, tower brace) and I 've got to agree with pkny on the handling. Even with the upgraded suspension, the tC felt top heavy with lots of body sway in comparison to the FR-S's more "glued to the road" cornering. The ride in the tC was also harsh and "thumpy" (potholes, RR tracks, utility cuts, etc.) in comparison to the FR-S. The tC's steering was no where near as crisp as the FR-S. With the tC's unmodified engine, the FR-S feels much more "sporty" all around. I had the tC for 2 years and it has been my only venture into the world of front wheel drive. For me it was a strange experience after 35+ years of rear wheel drive manuals. I liked my tC but when it comes right down to it the tC is a not a purpose built sports car like the FR-S. The FR-S's fun factor is through the roof.

I had 2011 tC before this car. Both manual trans.

There are 2 things I like about tC2 better. tC2 felt like it was more powerful at low RPM and the stereo system sounded better.

Other than that, I like this car better in every way.
Even the useless back seats. I like the back seats to be useless
The suspension is stiffer than tC2. It's bouncy and uncomfortable, but I like it that way.
Shifter is amazing and gear ratio is much better. tC2 had long 1-2-3-4 and short 4-5-6. I was shifting either 1 > 2 > 3 > 5 or 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 6. But this car, all gears are useful.
Shift nob is shaky in neutral at idle. I don't know if I like it or not, but I don't care about it.
tC2's engine was so quiet and smooth. But I like FR-S's loud and rough engine, which I like.
This car has less blind spots.
tC2 had so much rev hang, but this car does not at all.
tC2 had louder exhaust, which I might miss later, but I like the quiet one for now because I enjoy the loud engine noise.
FR-S's steering feels real when tC2's felt somewhat numb.

Make sure you've set your stereo to FR-S. It comes set to tC. It sounds a lot better once switched to FR-S and SSP Feel.

Yes I expected that the frs feels less powerful at lower rpm since the TC has a 2.5 l engine and its a inline 4 , but in return you get better MPG ,smaller engine have to rev it more.

Thanks for the respons

Is it for the base stereo too? Or is it only for BeSpoke stereo?
I have the base stereo and I can't find any setting to choose FR-S instead of tC.

Yes, base too. With the stereo off, push the big selector button in and hold it for a few seconds. The configuration menu should pop up. You can select car type there.
