Absolutely. I bought an 8.8 thunderbird diff from ebay and was planning on doing that first but none of the vendors would sell me a rear cover that would fit the FRS subframe. They said not enough of the kits sell so they are matched. Instead I did this. The price breakdown is this:

You do have to have a few tools but nothing too bad: 12 ton press from harbor freight (170), punches, impact, deadblow hammer, bearing separator, dial indicator, etc

Not enough of the 8.8 kits sell? That's kind of a relief cuz I was designing a kit at one point to swap a Camaro diff into this chassis and abandoned it. Glad I didn't put any more time or money into it

It is definitely due to the cost. The full blown kit costs 3995 without a diff. The diff is another 1895. The Grannas kit is 3185 plus 2000 for the diff. I would never buy those. I just wanted the mounts to make things easier. Maybe I will do a Rob Dahm and steal their cad designs like he did with the Hoonicorn lol.

That's what attracted me was the cost ratio. The front mount is relatively easy to design. The rear cover is kind of a bitch though. Ive got a better idea what's involved now so I could do it better/faster than last time. What would you consider an acceptable price?

I would think 150 for the front mount with bushings and the rear cover 350-500 with bushings. There are 8.8 covers for days between these amounts. Maybe I am low but a little more wouldnt be so bad.

I'd be hard pressed to make them at that price in low volume. For"standard" applications where trick flow is making 100 at a time, that's when you get a cover for 350$. This is rough guessing of course drive I haven't quoted out the part. But just with my knowledge of what the Camaro cover looked like pretty confident the 2 mounts could be sold with reasonable profit for under a grand though. If anyone wants to be a guinea pig for me I'll be happy to work with you too develop something.

Got the front diff mounts removed today in prep for powdercoating. The diff housing is stripped. What a pita to remove even with a torch. Using Whiteline KDT923's for the front and KDT924's for the rear mount. Going to use KDT922 bushing lockers for the subframe for stiffening. Don't want completely solid mounts. Think this will be a good mix of NVH and less slop. All poly mounts. Also got the new pinion and solid crush spacer.

Got the diff powder coated satin black and the rear cover. Need to assemble now!
