That might very well be true. Was just guesstimating for worst case

He didn't really elaborate, for whatever reason, so I thought I'd ask you guys. Is there a palpable change in handling characteristics?

Definitely not 80lbs, 60lbs sounds about right, after deducting for all the stock parts you won't reuse which is probably 15lbs of OEM stuff, I'd say more like 45lbs total added.

In my particular situation, I've added an HKS EL header (saves 7lbs) and will be adding a 5lb Shorai Lithium Iron battery(saves 25lbs) which saves me about 32lbs over stock. So in total, I've only added roughly 13lbs of net weight after my deductions.

Regarding Law's experience with his supercharger, my impressions after the Edelbrock kit is probably the exact opposite of his.

The car feels exactly the same as before in the handling department, the same tossable charm and I didn't notice any extra weight in the front. In fact, I think it feels a lot livelier and lighter now because of the extra power. In stock form, the car feels lethargic and lazy to get up to speed, now it feels very energetic and willing to play all the time.

In one of his videos, he says the car feels like it's about to explode in the upper revs and he feels the engine moves around a lot more. After experiencing none of that, I'm questioning if his kit was installed properly or maybe he received a defective kit.

In fact, after the kit, the engine feels a lot smoother in both sound and feel. Here is a quick 20-110mph pull.

Thanks everyone for your replies. It is on my wish list, and I'm just waiting for the 2017 specific version to be released, as well as my savings to reach the appropriate level of course lol, so a few comments here and there spooked me a little and I wanted to clarify just to make sure these are isolated cases and personal opinions/preferences.

I concur.....On the road you can not feel any difference in handling. The rear isn't more unsettled because of the extra weight in the front. The car doesn't understeer any differently because of said weight. In fact the car feels very much like a stock BRZ with more power. And after modding several cars, that is a nice discovery. Usually, while modding you lose some of the OEM character that drew you to the car to begin with.

As for handling on the road I don't see where the EBSC causes any compromises in handling. On the track, I can't say for sure. But, if you are feeling a handling difference after installing the EBSC there is another problem most likely or its a placebo.

The kit weighs 81 lbs per a shipping scale from this post (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=124).

I'm guessing I subtracted the aluminum intake from the '17 to get 62.5 lbs net.

In the post everything is weighed out separately then added together. Not to be a ****penis but did you even look at the link provided to you?

OK, I am back. I had the car sit for a week while I traveled and the issue is back. I fiddled under the hood with all connections and now it's back to normal...really frustrating. I wonder if it is a connection after all, but the symptoms are so strange.

I will keep you updated...

No. I read the '17 as 17# and thought the weight he came up with was 81 pounds minus 17 pounds. Apologies.

True enough but adding weight is still one of the downsides.

Got my kit tuned earlier this week at Turn-In Concepts. Guys there were really on top of their game and did an excellent job.

I'm running the Edelbrock S/C, catless JDL EL header, Motiv O/P, JDL UQFP, stock cat back, JR Dual radiator & oil cooler, and Radium PCV catch can.

On 93 pump gas, car pulled 278whp on their DynoDynamics dyno (~17% less than a DynoJet according to the shop). Stock FRS pulls ~140 on their dyno so not too shabby.

Power is insane throughout the whole range now and all of the idiosyncrasies of the Edelbrock tune are gone. Only problem is, I ran out of fuel capacity around 6500RPM so it runs poor above that. Onto bigger injectors and pump

Post dyno chart is attached. Didn't get the pre tune chart.

awesome numbers. that's about max you can get out of 93. I did 275 on my retune. buy you should not have ran out of fuel. I had no issue about 6500. there may be some other issue goin on. you shouldn't need a bigger pump and injectors unless goin e85 or smaller pulley. ill try to dig up my chart

Hey guys so I've ran into this random issue twice now. Taking off hard and redlining all the gears, shifting as quick as possible, car would lose power as soon as I hit 3rd. Doesn't bog or anything, just feels like the car stops making boost. This has happened only twice, once when trying to merge onto the freeway and today while racing a modded Golf R.

Unfortunately I wasn't logging when this event happened. Traction and VSC were both turned off.

Anybody having anything similar to this happening?
