Wheel offset question/help
I will be purchasing a Scion FR-S soon in the near future. Also I plan to eventually put a wide body kit on it. (For example possibly rocket bunny style possibly) only problem is i'm not sure what modifications are required for the tire size. Needless to say I do not want to do any cutting on the vehicle whatsoever. Knowing I do need custom offset rims and tires and was wondering if anybody knew what I could do to make it fit on a rocket bunny style without having to cut any metal or if its even possible. I want to keep it stock except rims, bodykit, and possibly coilovers. I'm completely new to this and any information would be helpful. In case asked about what rims I kinda want to go with Enkei's or something that has 7 or 8 spokes.

Begin your search here:

Ok, you said you're new to this and I'm guessing you're fairly young so I'm going to try to just help you understand why it doesn't work that way.
If you're going to go to a wide body, and especially when lowered (and you're going to want to lower it with the widebody) then you're oging to have to cut your fenders. A LOT. In order to get your wheels/tires to fill the widebody (why bother widebody if you're not going to make use of it) you're going to have the tires either under or completely interfering with the space where the stock fenders would have been. If they are under but not interfering then think about what happens when you hit a bump. Your tire is going to go up. What happens if the tire goes up and hits the fender that you didn't want to cut? very bad things happen. Cut tire, damaged fender, probably damge your expensive wheels, possibly crash. To do it right so that you have the proper clearance, structure, and sealed up so it won't rust out on you takes a lot of cutting, a lot of welding, and then sealant and paint. Check out Vorshlag's build for details: https://www.vorshlag.com/forums/foru...t-thread/page2 You don't want this: You need to do this: |

Do yourself a favor, OP. Forget the stupid wide body.

I totally agree, that is the spirit!
Yes, he should do whatever he wants with his car although it still looks stupid to me ... as well. While there is so much more you can do for the same amount of money to make it not just look but actually go faster, that is your money to spend in the way you want. Who am I to point this out? ... just somebody on the internet wasting time. Go out find your calling man! |
