Moving in December to Ft. Belvoir area - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Just thought I would post something in here about it. I'm currently in Okinawa, Japan doing the whole Army thing. I came down on orders the other day to Ft. Belvoir. I will be arriving there early December. How many of you guys are near that area? Also if anyone has any recommendations on places to live near there that would be great!

I'm down in Hampton, VA but I just moved here from Okinawa as well. Sorry I can't give any info on the area you're going to be living. I'll assume that it'll be expensive in that area.

P.S. - I'll say that I miss Okinawa. Enjoy it while you still can!

I live in the Springfield area. Takes about 15 minutes without traffic and 30 minutes on a bad day or after 1500. Most of the traffic is heading towards DC when I drive which is in the opposite direction so it's not gridlocked. I must say if you happen to live in the barracks for any reason they suck ****. On post housing is decent too but there's a few villages you want to stay away from if you go that route. You working in the hospital? If so, it's a cushy ass assignment.

I've been in Japan since August 2010 man I'm ready to come back haha. I will miss this place though

I am married and dual military. We are planning on going off base. Not a big fan of on base housing. I'm a signal guy so I won't be at the hospital...I wish I could though

Ahh ok. Well I used to live in Annandale and now I'm in Springfield and the drive was very similar; away from most of the commuters to DC. The apartments near the base look pretty ghetto. If you don't have any dogs you'll probably have an easier time than I did looking for a cheap place to stay. When the time comes, I can also give you the name of the realtor I used for the house I'm renting.

We are staying away from apartments too. We are looking at single homes or maybe a town home. Either way I need a garage for my baby. Possibly looking at buying a home as well. That would be great if you could pm your realtor's info! Thanks for the help!

I'm kind of isolated to the hospital so I don't normally see other owners, or even people for that matter. There's a silver FRS owned by a civilian who I doubt is on here. I also see a black one at the barracks all the time.
