If you look at the OEM unit (hard rubber/plastic type composite), we basically took there idea/design and enlarged/improved on it. It really isn't rocket science or something no one has thought of before. Nearly all OEM cars come with these type of deflectors on them from the factory to reduce drag. Our unit is wider, deflects air better, and is approximately 0.7" taller (towards the ground when installed) than the OEM unit. |

bought these suckers just for the hell of it and installed it over the weekend! I didn't even know there were tiny OEM front wheel deflectors until I installed it. I highly doubt it'll make any difference in city driving but I do like the added branding touch on the back of the deflectors! Not sure if I needed to use the washers but I used one to make the fit a bit more snug to the stock underbody.
Now I'm no expert in aerodynamics but since there's a gap above the deflectors on the stock underbody, would covering that hole with an additional plate improve the airflow slightly or would the performance be negligible? BTW, I'm totally getting your 'tamed' diffuser next! |

That's a small front diffuser. I'm more curious how the tire blocker affects any downforce being generated by that diffuser. I would speculate that leaving it open, would be the best overall gain.

We have been under the assumption that those little ducts were to feed a small amount of air to the brakes for the vehicle. Again, you'll see a lot of OEMs do this and they are typically located/pointing right at the inside of the front wheel and we believe the purpose is to deliver a small amount of air to cool the rotor. Granted, we could be very wrong here as we did not design the vehicle but both Paul and I agreed on this assumption from an outside perspective looking in.
A small diffuser does not make sense to us because without an area for the air to vent, we don't see it creating much if any downforce, though it may. To really benefit and create downforce from something in this location, venting the front fender wells would be necessary in our opinion. @G-awesome , I would personally recommend to leave that gap there without some other supplemental brake cooling. You run the risk of warping the rotors quicker in our opinion. |

How much would a rolling wheel in your CFD change your results?

We simulate rolling wheels in all of our analysis .
And to answer your question, it definitely changes the results. Some instances quite significantly, others not as bad. We attempt to be as accurate as possible in our analysis so every analysis we do is with all 4 wheels rotating at the speed necessary to obtain the airspeed the vehicle is seeing. |

I don't think we could get any less expensive, they aren't large but there is a decent amount of work in each unit. Made in the U.S. will never be cheap but we like keeping jobs here in the states.
