Actually, one more size need an opinion on, now leaning towards

18x8.5 +42, with a 225/40/18 tire or am i better off with 245/35/18

Would either have any fitment issues, rubbing, poking etc on either stock suspenion or lowered TRD type springs?

If go 245/35 for sure mate. More meat looks better than slightly stretched IMO.

That will fit nice and should take a camber bolts. Go 245s

New guy here, so be gentle. I'm building a car with my son as a father-son project, it's a 2013 FRS. I found a set of Volks that are 18x9.5 et 30 that I can get and refinish. It seems like that's probably not a great offset for these cars?

Most of the 18x9.5's I've looked at are in the 40-45 range. We don't want the car stanced, just lowered and flush.

How low do you plan on going is going to play a factor in how flush it is. Also, you really dont need 18x9.5 wheels to be flush that size wheel is pretty wide and just overkill and just add additional weight imo. Stick with 17x8 +35 or 17x9 +35-38. Now, if you are really want those Volks sure they will fit with Coilovers you may have rubbing issues on the fender as well depending on the size tires you choose.

Thanks for the reply. I doubt we will go much lower than 1" to 1.25". Lots of steep driveways here in our area unfortunately. My wife works for a large tire manufacturer, so the world is my oyster there. Was thinking 255 35 in back in 245 35 in front.

Well you *may* rub in the front with 255/35, but depends on the tire itself some are more wider than others. As far are staggering there is no need on this platform these cars dont make enough power theres just no benefit and itll be more prone to understeer but thats just my opinion... anyway you'll most likely be able to make this setup work with coilovers tho good luck.

I'm looking to add 18x8.5 +45 wheels with stock suspension on a 2022 brz. Will this clear the strut/spring?

Will 3mm of extra offset over OEM mean much?

For my autocross wheel/tire set up I'm looking at a set of Enkei PF01's (not to be confused with the RPF1's). The wheels are 17x7.5 with ET45 vs the OEM ET48. I'll be running 225/45/17 Falken 660's.

From my layman's perspective, I think this should work out just fine as moving the wheels outboard 3mm might not be very noticeable, even with the wider tires.

Also curious if this would allow me to run a 245/40/17 tire without spacers if I ever feel the need to go wider. I may not, but like entertaining the future possibilities.

EDIT: This is for a gen 2 car. Important bit of info I probably should have provided the first time!

7.5" width will be too narrow for a 245 section width tire. They're usually spec'd for a minimum 8" wide wheel. You can confirm this by looking up the specs on the tires you're interested in on Tire Rack.

Thanks. You're right, it's an 8" minimum.

When exploring tire sizes I was looking at those charts and must have misread it for the 245/40/17 size. That or I mixed them up in my head...I was looking at a lot of options that day.

Hey guys,
Just picked up a 2020 BRZ and wanting to change the wheels.
Car is currently completely stock but plan on lowering it a little
Will 18x8.5 +44 fit fairly flush?
Want to get some SSR GTV01s on some 245/35r18s

Yes that'll work well with 6-8mm front spacers and camber bolts up front.

Well, yes and no. Welcome to street class autocross rules where all the fast cars run 245's on a 7.5" because the rules state you can run any size tire, but have to keep the stock width. Is it logical for non-autocross applications? Not really. But he states it's specifically for autocross.

I can confirm 225's on the same 7.5" on an autocross course are noticeably slower.

See above. It depends how serious you are about autocross. Just know that to run the 245's in front on the stock suspension, you'll need extended studs and a spacer. Rears you keep inboard as normal as there's plenty of inner room.

225/45/17 is the easy button and fits 100% even with the stock +48 offset. I ran a 3mm spacer on mine, but it wasn't necessary... so I had an effective +45 offset.

It depends where you are with autocross. Given you're running the RT660's, you're probably not up at the top. RE71RS are the top street tire now-adays. I had the RT660's and for an autocross tire, I kinda hated them. By about run 100, they were more or less dead in terms of heat cycles and grip, yet they had plenty of tread. I ran them out to 230 runs, but the last 100 runs were dreadful. Between RE-11A's, RE-71R's, Hankook RS3's's, and A052's, out of all of them, I wanted the RT660's off the car the most.

I had a buddy toss them on as street tires even after that as they still had tread and he had to run them at an event on his Civic in a pinch. Couldn't put the power down at all and was all over the place. He came over and said they were absolutely the worst worn tires he's ever driven on in about 5+ years of autox.

Given that, I really like either the RE-17RS or Yokohama A052. I've had two sets of Yoks and both lasted 160 runs plus about 4-5k street miles. A lot of people aren't doing 25+ event seasons, so 160 might be two full seasons of 12+ runs for a normal human being
Just my 2 cents on autocross tires.
