Couple of 30/40-something guys in a newer Acura TL-S pulled up beside me at a light and threw a bunch of questions at me. Seemed to really like it, said it looked great, etc.

Back to work 5 minutes later, our VP pulled up beside me and started asking about it, ended up sitting in the drivers seat checking it out.

Boxer engine, FML! But as soon as you mention that it is the same engine layout as Porsche then their attentention is peaked.

Was sitting at a light today and "felt someone" looking at me. Look over to the car next to me and it was prestine (looked like it just rolled off the showroom) mid 70's Honda Accord with this biker type 50'ish dude, big mustache and everything, looking my way with a huge scowl on his face.

The second our eyes met he gave me this big huge smile and a thumbs up, saying "nice car, take care of it!". I gave him a thumbs up, and he returned to scowling and studying every line of the car.

Man at first I thought I had pissed him off or something.

I have noticed than when people notice you noticing them looking, they look away, so I try not to notice them so they can watch at ease.

I got off the freeway this afternoon and there was this homeless guy standing next to the intersection holding up a sign asking for food and money. I was going to give him some money but instead he looked at me and looked at the car, flipped me the bird, threw his sign up, and walked away. The first negative reaction I've got so far. Weird.

Got another one:

Was at the gas station today and a guy struck up another conversation about the car. Asked for faults and all I couldn't thinik about in 10 seconds was the trunk space. Hahaha.

Mind you, I was comparing the trunk space with my 08 Legacy in my mind.

You would probably have more luck doing this in your regional area section.

One day I took my BRZ to an autocross just to hang out with some friends (I didn't run it). Of course it had a lot of attention there. I even parked it out front as an invitation to gawk at it. I spent a lot of the day answering questions about it.

Another day I took it to the local Miata club meet to show it off. It got a lot of good reactions, including from a guy with a JCW Mini Cooper that wandered over.

I did once have a guys follow me around in his Evo X. When I stopped at the store, we chatted for a while about the car.

Even a bunch of people at work were asking me about my car and I have no idea how they figured out that the BRZ in the lot was my car.

I'll enjoy the attention while it lasts, because it won't last forever.

A little over 800 miles in, I'm getting about the same reactions - usually some comment from a passerby when I park, and lots of people asking about it, lots of people checking it out... also a lot of "I didn't know there were out yet!"

This morning I had a comment that threw me; I was doing some work at a fire department and one guy said to the other, "whose whip is that? That's hot!" Having never in my life referred to a car as a "whip", that made me feel old.

No negative reactions so far at all.

That reminds me of when I first got my WRX, one of my friends said, "nice wheels!" I thought he was referring to the Prodrive P1s that were on it so I just said "yeah they came on it." Turns out he was referring to the whole car so we both just looked at each other really confused for a few seconds

They're on my WRX, not the BRZ. I'll swap them sometime and take some pics. Hoping to get my Rota Tarmac 2s on there sometime too, it's basically the same design.
