And of course all wheel drive is definitely better.
This X100000. I'm so sick of hearing people say rwd can't be driven in snow. It's called snow tires and knowing how to drive!!!

Good snow tires on RWD will have you better off than all-season tires with AWD! The combination of real snow tires and a Limited-slip diff will get you through almost anything you will encounter. Your limiting factor will probably be ground clearance, so don't try to ford a 24" high snow pile!

Look at Nokian snow tires.

True, good winter tires RWD car is better than cheap all season AWD car to certain point. But if they're both wearing good winter tires, I'll take AWD lol

I remember a test by Car and Driver that tested an Infiniti G35 sedan with snow tires against a G35x sedan with all season tires at Tire Racks Winter test track. The RWD car performed better in every category than the AWD car.

Rember than AWD helps you move forward, but snow tires help you move forward, turn, and stop.

In addition to a good set of winter tires, you may want to throw a sandbag in the trunk.

SNOW TIRES make a huge difference. I lived in the foothills of Salt Lake City (= lots of snow, steep roads). My RX-8 was useless in the snow with the tires it came with. I switched to some Dunlop Winter tires and the difference was amazing!! I felt more confident in my RWD/winter tires than a FWD/all-weather tires

^Great video!

I actually bought my winter tires from tirerack. They came mounted/balanced on 17" wheels. It made it really simple to switch back and forth from summer to winter tires.

Not dissing on RWD in winter. I said, IF they both wearing same good winter tires, I'll take AWD.

What a plague on the auto industry... naming spring/summer/fall tires all season tires. They should be named 3-season tires or Florida/California all-season tires...

I hate, hate, hate when people drive in the snow with all-season tires. Anybody who does so should be hit in the head with a tire iron.

Was a little nervous today. Somebody traded in their BMW and I asked them why, they said it was RWD and horrible in the snow. I asked them if they had good snow tires on and they said yes, but it was still horrible. Said they switched to AWD and it's much better. Don't think I'll let it dissuade me from my purchase but still... A little scared!
