No farmhouse I've been in had such a kitchen sink. But... You don't need a "farmhouse" style tonget a bigger sink.
Mudroom style? Maybe. Fit the whole kid in the sink till they're 5 . Kitchens were like hum posted... A bit bigger with integrated drain board.

I want to fit sheet pans (well likely never get full sheets, but 2/3 and half still don't fit in our sink) and even just our fry pans to fit.

being able to fit the baking sheets, slow cooker, turkey roaster, etc. was the reason I ditched a 3yr old split basin for a large single.

I contend a dishwasher (via modern energy efficient units) is a more efficient use of resources, both water and time, vs hand washing.

Yup - I'm that old.

Whoever thought putting a divider in a kitchen sink was a good idea can go skin themselves.

I want 1 BIG SINK in the kitchen where all the things that DON'T fit in the dishwasher will FIT all the way IN THE SINK!
Here ya go - you can put ALL your pots and pans in there - at one time -

Today I learned that 'Today I learned' thread is about guys talking about kitchens, just for good measure thrown in the kitchen sink too..

BTW, we have a dishwasher, never use it... got a really fancy kitchen sink tap, dispenses not only normal cold and hot but filtered hot and cold water..

It is. However, not everything fits (even half sheets are too big) and not everything survives (most our pots and pans aren't ok in a DW). So the big stuff ends up in the sink, but doesn't fit there either...
Ours isn't a rectangle or it would have been swapped ages ago. The sink, not the dishwasher.
Of course our dishwasher died last year... Water heater quit. I should see if anything is available now, or still in scarce supply.

depends on the model, but many appliances are well over 6-month delays. currently have 3 open jobs that are waiting for appliances-- they ordered in january-march, the first will be getting them sometime in november assuming no other delays. lol.

all of those are subzero/wolf/bosch high end appliances. can't speak for the more typical kenmore/amana-type models.

Yup. SO much stuff not available.
We keep hoping to be a 2-income household again, get our shit together, and be able to update the kitchen so it's not a horrible design for people who COOK (ok, and where there's more than one cook. I can use it solo with fewer annoyances.) It's pretty obvious it doesn't even matter right now because we couldn't get new appliances, etc. anyway.
Though I think Abt might actually have the dishwasher I'd probably go with in stock right now... Can keep the fridge we have I think/hope. BlueStar (yeah, I'm spoiling myself rotten) is always slow to ship so we'd need to plan way ahead anyhow - I hear steel is still harder to come by, they're not full of fancy electronics at least... so really it's cabinets and countertops and budget. And finding someone to do the work. And actually sorting out a usable design.

TIL that when you save the link to a google maps route created from a desktop browser client, the mobile client makes a new route ignoring all the way points.

TIL that when jalapeno peppers are allowed to ripen until they turn deep red, they actually sweeten. They are amazing. I don't understand why this isn't a thing.
