Drivers window not going up

Weird problem in my 86 - the drivers side window goes down but not back up. Its not the motor - I can jump power to it and make it go up. Not the switch - tried a replacement. It even goes down when the window lock is switched on. Is this in like an emergency mode or something? I have other problems with the car as well.

Common problem. Mine freaked out after i tried to wind it down with a gopro mount attached to the window! Have a look on youtube for videos on how to reset it. Dont stress, its an easy fix.

Mine does it about 5 times a year when I am overly optimistic that the ice has melted enough to roll it down at the coffee drive through.

Ok what I find on Youtube is the problem with cold. It is still 74 degrees here. I don't have lights flashing on the buttons - I have no lights.

My lights weren't flashing either, and I had no response from the window at all, neither up nor down. The light on the passenger's side was off. There seem to be a few variations on this theme, depending on what caused the fault, and I've found a few versions of the long hold reset but they all seem to work.

If it is not a reset or relearn problem.
I know this sounds stupid but. I hold the switch and hit the inside of the door below the arm rest with my fist.
I learned this trick with my Mini.

Oh, that trick has been around for many years for many things. If that doesn't work, hit it with a large rubber hammer -

Reminds me of the time during a really cold winter night in Connecticut. I was leaving a holiday party in my pristine 1970 MGB-GT, pretty well liquored up when the dash started squeaking. I gave it a big ol rap with my cold, drunken fist and it quit squeaking.

The next day I noticed a broken open, long, crack in the dash -

Gave my 58 Ford dash a whack once. Forgot it wasn't plastic and was heavy sheet steel. Dash was fine. Hand was not.

Maybe that's the reason they started making "padded" dashes -

I think I have tried every method I can find on Youtube and still not fixed. My indicator lights on the window switch buttons are flashing. The drivers side switch only controls the drivers side window, the passenger side switch will work the passenger side window. But they will only work if the doors are closed. Pressing the down button to the first step will take them down, pressing them to the second will take them down but not on the auto function. They will only go up when you pull the button all the way to the second step - and that will not function on auto. I can live with all this but when I open the door to get out the window drops down a little and when I close it it doesn't go back up. Just as an informational note I did change all the wiring looms and switches in the car as it had been flooded, but if the windows go up and down I am pretty sure it is in the programming. An more tips would be appreciated
