My SL / CEL journey so far

SL and CEL both came on last night and I just dropped the vehicle off at my dealership. When mentioning about the issue other people have had they told me they have not seen any other FRS come in for any issues (they have sold 3 including mine) hoping for the best. >.<

Ok update got a call back here is the info I got

Code 0019 they need to replace my VVTI gear something with the electronic part.

I was told 3-4 days for the part to come in and I have been put into a rental

Just left the dealer talk to my friend who is the service manager corp advised them to put me in a loaner for 24 hours someone is going to go through and check and make sure it's electrical/electronic and not the camshaft. If it is the camshaft they are going to replace the entire engine

Talked to scion rep to voice a few concerns and they let me know because I called them and have the case documented if I was out of warranty and has an issue with the vehicle andnit was related back to this original issue they would "work with me"

I voiced my concern about them replacing major engine components in my vehicle and about a néw engine being put in hitting carfax as rebuilt.

I was told nothing would show up on carfax if they had to replace an engine but once again voiced concerns of a dealership pulling up service records and seeing the engine replaced and possibly hurting trade in.

I also asked if replacing the car was an option if they needed to replace a whole engine. They were very hesitant and told me they need to talk to the dealer and figure out what needsnto be replaced.


They explained that these issues are being handled by Scion Corp. who are explaining to the techs what they need to do and check. The end of the day the dealership is making the call with what info they get and I was advised that the rep assigned to me would be in contact with the dealership for me.
