Can you describe the process you used to 'punch out' the cat in the FP? I am thinking about doing the same since my state no longer requires emissions testing.

Is the Cat some kind of filter/paper material that i can just cut and gut?

Warning: cats are filled with magical stuff called heavy metals which will fuck you up if inhaled.

Dispose of the waste at a local exhaust shop, double bag it, treat it like asbestos.

RACE USE ONLY

Use PPE.

Tools required

1 x drill
1 x big long drill
1 x hammer
1 x screw driver

My favorite youtube >

Stop after step 5, cutting out the cat and welding in a straight pipe showed no advantage, again, NA power levels.

The video is of a aftermarket "metal" cat, a OEM honeycomb cat will break up alot easier.

I would grab a spare to punch out, for if you decide to sell the car, or you need to have the car compliant if you move

Pity your not local, I have a few front pipes laying around, that will be put out in the next metal waste collection.

I haven't heard of any issues

When torqued down correctly (tight as) I cannot see it moving

I prefer this over the pillow ball style, I had issues with threads seizing before, and install took about 1 hour all up

Put some new Penrite 5w 30 and a Subaru oil filter in/on today.

It was a early change, normally I change every 5k km (severe conditions, dusty hot Australia), but as the car is going in for boost soon, and I gave myself a free arvo at work, I changed at 4k km.

Also trimmed the nipple of the Fumoto drain valve, finally, I got p/n F108n instead of F108, the nipple on the F108n sits to low, but it was nothing a hack saw and dremmel couldn't fix.

Pulse Racing and AVO strike again.

The graph is from the initial run prior to NA tuning, to now running some boost.

The feeling between NA and boosted is summed up in one word, WOW

I has Pssshh for the LOLS

Only opened a bit currently so only minor LOLS, I tried it everywhere from 100% which brought all the bangs to the exhaust and PSSSHHH to the extreme, right down to closed with nil psshh's

Spring is wound down pretty tight, so only really vents at max boostage, under that its very minor dosage

LOLS are pretty good

Contemplating a catback or axle back.

Car sounds stock, except for turbo spooling and tyres slipping.

Conundrums:

1. Pre fab - Invidia? N2? R400?Cold start noise?

2. Shop made - pretty much design what I want with the sound I want.

1. Pro: Would be cheap and I get to install, Con: get what I get given sound/drone wise

2. Con: Would be a bit more expensive vs the massed produced item, Pro: able to test what it sounds during the build, Con: I don't really get to install.

2. Found this axle back pic on the nets, will need to speak to my local exhaust shop, Pro: stock rear pipe and resonator, Con: Cost???, not really any other cons that are blinding obvious.

Disclaimer: this is not a performance modification, I'm after just a little more sound.

Hmmmmm
