Why are wheels painted instead of anodized?

Aluminum casting alloys have a bunch of other materials mixed into them to make them castable. These "impurities" make them poor candidates for anodizing, which only protects the portion of the alloy that is actually aluminum.

A wheel forged from a wrought alloy of aluminum shouldn't have these issues, so anodizing would be possible for them.

Ah, my industry doesn't use any casting, only forging or machining from billet. So are any forged wheels anodized? I previously didn't see the point in paying for forged wheels but I'd throw down for forged bronze anodized wheels. Now I'm curious to look up what alloys the auto wheel industry uses for forged and cast. I'm basically only used to 6061, 7005, and a little bit of 2000whatever in drawn parts.

I'm only familiar with high pressure die casting alloys. Wheels are typically cast in a slower, lower pressure manner. We typically specify A360 alloy for our die cast components due to its reduced copper content which improves resistance to corrosion. The more common A380 alloy can have up to 4% copper.
"A360 Aluminum Alloys consists of Silicon (9% - 10%), Magnesium (0.4% - 0.6%), Aluminum (Bal) as primary components. Additionally, A360 alloy may have Manganese (0% - 0.35%), Iron (0% - 2%), Nickel (0% - 0.5%), Copper (0% - 0.6%), Zinc (0% - 0.5%), Tin (0% - 0.15%) in trace amounts."

I can't get the car or the wheels. All I've got is the alloy steering knuckles.
