Transmission Fluid Recommendations

I have a boosted brz and very rare cases I can't shift to any gears from a stop. I was looking to do an tranny fluid change and see if that works. What would you guys recommend?
Thanks

I doubt the transmission fluid (unless it is low) is causing that situation.

I'd suggest you first check the fluid level.

If you're bound and determined to change brands of oil, a quick forum search would yield all kinds of peoples choices.

If it were me, for average driving, I'd stick with the OEM stuff.

Did you try bleeding/adjusting the clutch yet? I would try that before looking at transmission oil.

Aside from Motul, Redline is a good choice.

I mean no insult. If you are unable to find the drain plug, it's probably best that you have a professional do the job for you.

So out of curiosity, it looks like *2 in the first image is the overflow plug, is there a separate drain plug on the pan somewhere? I have an MT, otherwise I'd look next time I'm under there.

Yeah. The views in the manual are not clear but they are accurate.

Out of curiosity, since almost no one changes the transmission fluid with OEM fluid (according to the forums), and Subaru OEM Gear Oil is GL5 while the transmission recommends GL3/4, does that mean Subaru themselves do not make an OEM fluid suitable for our transmissions?

I really enjoy the oem shift feel but really can't make a decision if I want to buy their High Performance Gear Oil after reading too many forum posts that it will deteriorate my transmission because of the GL5 spec. Please enlighten me lol.

I wonder what was put in from the factory..
