screw lowering spring, you need coils. Time for some V3's or Ohlins R&T! You have a job now...you can afford it!

Hey, I was wondering if you guys have any shops that you recommend for getting work done. I'm gonna have some TRD springs installed, and I'm not sure I want to pay dealer prices to have it done, any suggestions?

Dealer found no issue. I tried punching it a few times on the way home, but traffic was a bitch. I never did get the smell. When I got home, I popped the hood and checked that plate. It doesn't appear that it's been dripping. When it cools, I'll feel around in there.
In the meantime, I'll be paying close attention. I could swear it smells like burnt fiber (brakes or clutch disc smell).

Thanks for linking that thread.

Is this normal? I've never had a clutch smell like this in a car before, but this is my first "sports" car. Is there something I can do to fix it, other than staying below 4k?

Thanks
I have the same smell. Couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I'll have to check for that oil leak though.

Check to see if the upper clutch inspection cover is still on the rear of the block. If it is not there, that may be your issue. I take those covers off every 86 that comes through my shop if they are still on there because they notoriously harden and shrink, then fall into the bell housing. They are then promptly shredded by the reluctor ring and Flywheel starter ring. From there the bits and pieces are then tossed around getting onto the friction material causing rubber burning smells and clutch burning smells.

The rear cam plate cover can also cause similar issues if it is seeping.

Sorry it isn't a shot of it in a car but this is on one of the FA20 blocks I have laying around so I am using it as an example for you. If you look down on your block behind the intake manifold this is what you will see. If it's there grab the tab and do away with it. If it isn't there it's in a million pieces in the bell housing.
