The air guides are absolutely functional by design and application, which happens to be the same as on the Porsche 911 GT3 they were designed for. Many others on this forum ( @makinen , @Yobiwan , @buddy32 ) are using them with BBK's and the stock front brakes and they have had good results with braking consistency with the guides compared to without.

I don't think anyone has done any controlled testing of the guides to determine rotor temperatures with and without them, but the general response from people who use them is positive. They are cheap and easy to install so I think you'll see more people using them in the future.

I installed the GT3 air guides at the same time I installed my big brake kit so I can't really tell you to what measurable degree they are working because I don't really have a good point of reference. I can tell you that around Atlanta Motor Speedway (a road course + oval) a couple weeks ago my brakes performed extremely well and they cooled off so much going around the long banked oval portion of the track they had significantly less bite going into the first corner, so I had to brake extra early to get heat back into them. This was likely attributed to both the excellent thermal efficiency of the BBK and the air guides helping them out as well.

I'm running the car at my home track this weekend, Road Atlanta, which is much more braking intensive. I should be able to really give the brakes a workout and experience their full potential.

The car ran great all weekend and I was able to really push the suspension and brakes hard. Harry's Lap Timer was acting up due to the overcast conditions and while it did get somewhat accurate lap times there were several where it didn't pick up start/finish and the laps were like 3-5 minutes long. I was right at my 1:50.1 personal best a few times but I never did crack the 1:50 mark.

The brakes were phenomenal. I was out braking most of the street cars out there and my cornering speeds were on par with several cars running slicks as the GoPro footage will show once it's ready. I got lots of compliments from other drivers in my run group on how the car ran.

My dad took the car out for the first time and gave me some good feedback on the setup from his perspective. He was amazed by how much better the turn-in was compared to his 944 S2 race car and really impressed with the brakes. He thinks the car is a little loose in the rear at higher speeds (into 10A) over the hill at turn 9. I may adjust the leading edge of my rear diffuser back to max rake once I can get a real downforce splitter installed in front to balance things out and see how that goes. I like the sway bar and damper settings as is so I think getting more aggressive with the aero in the rear may be a better solution.

I'll start off the GoPro footage from this weekend at Road Atlanta with a nice, long session with lots of open track.

The car is a bit low on power in this session since this is when I was out of E85 on Sunday and I had switched back to 93 octane pump gas and the Flex Fuel tune dials back timing accordingly.

More to come. Saving the best for last.

Got into a tussle with a pair of 987's in this one!
Croc hunting begins around the ten minute mark.

Last but not least, here's what I believe to be my fastest session of the weekend on Saturday afternoon when the sun came out.

I start closing in on a Cayman R at the 4 minute mark and shortly after getting a point by I struggle to keep up with a new 981 Cayman GTS with a skilled driver.

Fingers crossed that Project CARS includes Road Atlanta as part of its 80 in-game tracks!

Forza never really got the elevation drop through turn 12 quite right.

We'll get you to break that 50 easily in December. My car on stock tune, stock suspension, no aero, 93...just brake pads, fluids, and old race tires runs 49s. Andy May's running 48s with suspension, pads, and tires. We should have a blast in December.

Emmanuel! I was the asian guy at the NASA SE mid June event who asked for a ride on that last session. Bummer it didn't happen, everyone was pretty busy packing away. hope to see you out there next time and get a chance to get a ride!

Hey, I felt bad about that too. We had a few incidents in the races, so by the time I got all that sorted out with the drivers, I realized I hadn't set a time in TT for the day. Jumped in the car, got on track, and realized my right rear tire was flat (I have a slow leak around the bead of the tire). Car was a handful so I got frustrated and drove it right up on the trailer.
Definitely got you covered next event. I've had 2 buddies die instructing last year, so won't get in the passenger seat... but I'll definitely give you a ride, review video and data with you, and do a lead follow session anytime you need it.

It's a very short list of tracks right now on pCars. I'd work with iRacing for the time being. Basic setup changes, and comparing data from your RL session with the mx5, for example, is a great place to start. Elevation changes is one of the hardest to replicate, even in a full blown sim, without motion.
Unless PC sim racing isn't something you would like to explore at this time.
