what do guys recommend? I want something inexpensive that will work for both street/track or just track. I don't plan to track much, maybe once a year. this is my daily.

I'm going to give the winmax w4's a try. They are reasonably priced and have decent reviews

You 100% must have track pads and fluid (I recommend RBF600) to do the road course. This is no longer an option. Too many brake-related failures / accidents.

Yes, a few, and had a few others ride with me. Andy (who runs the CWSCC and these events at PG) did like 10 runs in a row in my BRZ last year trying to pin down a few things lol.

I use Carbotech XP10 Front, XP8 Rear. they're about $200 a set, but have lasted for 5 track events with life left. Excellent pads for Road Course. If your focus is AutoX, they do make pads more focused on that as well. (Difference in Initial Bite, mainly)

Additionally, here are the exact requirements for the Road Course FOR PG 2k15.1 ONLY.
Other track days have different rules at BIR.

In addition to that, you will be required to wear Jeans / Long sleeve shirts while on the track. They will not allow you on without them.

- One other critical piece of information to know - Your regular Auto Insurance DOES NOT COVER track related damage / accidents. You total your car, that's it. There is, however Track insurance available for those who want that protection. It's typically about $200-$300 per event (whole weekend) with a $3000 - $5000 deductible for a, lets say $35000 car. More or less depending on value and/or Mods. It's through Lockton Motorsports and can be found here: https://www.motorsportreg.com/index....8B6E37C503BCFF

Hope this helps.

You're either driving or spectating, either is usually a blur. See you at PG2k15.1
