My initial reaction was I didn't like the styling. But after watching videos, I think it looks much better. I like the exterior.

So far I don't like what I see on the inside (from a styling perspective). But it looks like all the ergonomics are the same, and that is what really matters. I am with tcoat, I don't like the digital dash. I'd be ok if they committed to a single high quality display, but this looks like marketing saying "ooh feature" and the accountants saying "cost saving!".

I'm satisfied with the power/tq numbers. They are in line with what I expected. I think they left some performance on the table, that we might see in future versions. The press release says 7,000 redline, but the tach pics make it look like 7,500. I hope the actual fuel cutoff is 7,500. I think the power bump will be noticeable and this will be a slightly faster car, and if the midrange torque is as flat as it looks on the dash graph, it will feel great to drive.

The "premium" (base) BRZ is quoted at 2815 lbs. That is a tiny weight increase. I am very pleased with this, considering they say the body is significantly stiffer.

Overall I'm quite happy. From what I know now, they didn't ruin it. Still has a manual. Still has hand brake. Driving position looks good. Styling is fine. Modest performance increase. Didn't get much heavier. EyeSight optional.

I want to see the Performance Pack and/or tS version before I decide if this is going on my wish list. Lots of new and exciting cars coming out. New BRZ/86, mk8 GTI/R, 400Z, new Si and Type R, manual Supra (hopefully), GR Corolla. Lots to choose from.

Oh tcoat, don't be an old man, the digital dash looks fine. Could look cheesy and overdone like C7 digital dash, instead looks clean. Maybe you can keep your old analog gauges from your 86 and fit it onto a new twin
I like digital dashes just not that one.

From the Subaru data
6-speed manual: Premium 2,815 lbs.
Limited 2,835
Automatic Premium 2,864 lbs.
Automatic Limited 2,881 lbs.

So the size pizza will depend upon the trim level and tranny!

I wonder what you get to make the extra 20 lbs. Wheels and something else?

True.
It is still too early to expect 100% accuracy but at least it isn't made up bullshit either.

I'm thinking 18" wheels (confirmed), dual zone climate (my speculation), and lots of alcantara/pleather (likely). Maybe fog lights.

At least we can all agree to thank the flying spaghetti monster that they didn't throw the headunit above the dash like in so many cars, including the Supra

Well my Hakone with all the stuff but 17" wheels shows as 2799lbs.
A GT with 18" wheels as 2835
and somehow a base as 2817

So the GT 18" wheels account for the increase but now I am confused over how a base weighs more than the Hakone with it's special interior.

No anger at all. It just reads that way. At least by people with anger in them transferring it to my written words.

BRZ looks fantastic! Exterior and improved interior. Numbers up. Will only get better for they always start easy and add things to Second, third year models. Looking forward to seeing what Toyota's will look like

Im sure the pic is right. The motor makes peak HP at 7000rpm so whoever said redline is 7000rpm must have mistaken the peak hp with the redline.
