Totaled Release Series FRS to a DD Track Car

I bought this a few years ago, i'll start with posting everything I've already done to it with the pictures I have on my phone.

My goal was to make a capable track car that I can also DD. It has to have performance, but also nothing that is too "out there" or clearly aftermarket.

For example, a vented CF hood really won't match, but a painted CF hood with only the vents showing CF will do.

Current list of Mods:
Series 1.0 Comments

Exterior
TRD-style front lip_____This is not the original front lip. It is an aftermarket since the original was far too expensive to replace from the original accident back in May 2016.
TRD side skirts________OEM TRD included with Release Series 1.0 package.
TRD fender trim_______OEM TRD included with Release Series 1.0 package.
TRD rear bumper______OEM TRD included with Release Series 1.0 package.
TRD deck lid spoiler____OEM TRD included with Release Series 1.0 package.
35% tinted headlights__This is one of the only purely aesthetic modifications on the car with no real performance value, rather to match the color theme of the car.

Interior
-TRD steering wheel___OEM TRD included with Release Series 1.0 package.
TRD shifter knob______OEM TRD included with Release Series 1.0 package.
TRD sport seats______OEM TRD included with Release Series 1.0 package.
TRD chassis plaque____OEM TRD included with Release Series 1.0 package (number 443/1500)
Bolt-mounted mount___Phone holder that can withstand track forces. Can view temps easily during HPDEs.
VeePeak OBD_________Bluetooth OBD connector that sends Oil, Coolant, and Air temps to the phone. Necessary to monitor during track sessions.
STARK shifters________These shifter extensions make changing gear much more enjoyable. Shifts are much more easily accessible.
TRD dash trim A needed upgrade over the cheap plastic panels. Matches the interior theme of the car.

Engine
SBD 500X turbo_______Installed by Boosted Control Performance. All bolts replaced with Grade 8 bolts. Header ceramic coated.
OFT stage 3 tune_____Tuned and approved by Shiv from OFT
TRD quad tip exhaust___OEM TRD included with Release Series 1.0 package.
FBM oil cooler_________Mounted below the passenger headlight to allow cool air in, and hot air exit.
AV 6 inch cooling fan___Custom wired with fuses, this fan is activated by a switch in the cabin. Highly increases effectiveness of the oil cooler.
-RADIUM catch PCV____These catch cans are extremely important for maintaining engine life. For normal drivng, emptied every 500 miles. For track days, emptied every session.
-RADIUM catch CCV____The CCV side in particular collects more oil than the PCV side.
JDL SPAL shroud_______These fans pump 1300+ cubic feet of air per minute through the radiator. Coolant track temps confirmed dropped after installation.

Brakes
POWERSTOP rotors
STOPTECH SS lines_____Brake pedal feel much better after this upgrade.
WINMAX W4 pads______The best Winmax pad you can use daily with only minimal fading on the track.

Suspension/Handling
WLINE camber bolts____The Whitleline package was installed at once. Steering was more responsive and tighter after installation.
WLINE rack bushings
WLINE control arm bushings
WLINE front end links
DARMOR crash bar______Needed to accommodate for turbo intercooler.
TRD sway bar kit_______OEM TRD included with Release Series 1.0 package.
TRD strut brace________An addition to help improve front end grip
TRD lowering springs____OEM TRD included with Release Series 1.0 package.
BILSTEIN B8 shocks_____A very effective upgrade for handling.
VELOX camber plates____Front end grip increased significantly after this installation.

Aero
SIEBON rear wing_______End plates painted to match.
SEIBON TS hood________The whole hood is CF, but only the vents are not paint matched. The vents are designed by Seibon to effectively remove heat with the Cooling fans.
APR front splitter_______Front aero to balance the rear aero.
QL-38 hood pins________Color matched and very effective at holding the light hood.
QL Mini bumper latches___Smaller versions of the QL-38 on each side of the bumper to further strengthen it for high speeds.
ACE canards____________Further front downforce to balance the rear. Also designed to give a clean flow of air alongside the car, avoiding the wheels.
VERUS diffuser__________Highest addition of downforce out of all the upgrades. Combined with the splitter and underbody panels, it is even more effective.
OEM underbody panels___Smoother airflow under the car, feeds clean air to the diffuser.
Open mesh fog bezels____Air flow to the oil cooler.

Wheels
Muteki closed end spline lugs
Motegi MR140 18x8.5 w/ Michelin SS (daily) and Bridgestone Blizzak WS90 (winter)
Enkei RPF1 17x9.0 w/ Bridgestone RE71R (track)

Fluids
MOTUL 5.1 brake fluid____________Flushed every two track days.
AMSOIL Signature Series 5W-30____Engine oil, changed every 3500 miles
AMSOIL Signature Series ATF______Automatic transmission fluid
AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-90______Differential fluid

Here is the car when it came. Front end is gone. I never knew what a Release series was until after buying, I just thought it was a yellow painted FRS.

After taking everything apart, obviously the damage was more than I thought it would be. The timing belt cover was chipped, so that piece had to be replaced. Not to mention the frame damage.

Car was straightened out mostly fine though.

Parts painted. The color was matched very well.

I actually intended to sell it at the time, since i had a silver one i was selling too and a red one that was my DD.

Turned out, I was going to sell the silver and red, and keep the yellow.

I knew there was damage, but it was a tad more that I planned for.

I misread your first post. You've done an awesome job. In Australia, 'statutory writeoffs' can't be registered no matter how good the repairs are. We have a national register of totaled cars.

First upgrade before taking it to M1 Concourse. OFT tune and headers, gave the car a nice grumble and better midrange torque. Confirmed by the all-knowing ButtDyno

Also here are some of the pics I took when I first tried to sell the car

Installed the Seibon wing. First tried by just bolting it to the wing, but it moved too much.

I ended up making by own brace, which I'll post later. The wing hardly moves now!

I also made it a point to mount it as far back as possible, I'm not a fan of the wings that are centered on the trunk.

As I intended, this will be my DD even in winter. With the Blizzaks on, this car is a joy to drive in the snow.

Also interesting to see the patterns made under the wing from all the slush and snow.

Wing couldn't stay black, so I color matched the end plates. Much better.
