Toyota Dynamic Force Engine

This is pretty much the latest engine technology of Toyota. What would you think of a new FA24D engine with both direct and port injection (not the Subaru's Ascent FA24 variant) and the dynamic force improvements?

For your information, this technology has been also used in the GR Yaris car. Not a coincidence that the above make one of the most powerful three-cylinder automobile engines ever produced.

Personally, I'd rather see the corolla motor in the twins than the boxer. But that's just me longing for a proper high strung toyota motor.

You aren't the only one. I would love something that could rev past 9k and be super rev happy and fun to drive, even if it made a little less power from the factory.

I am still a fan of the FA20 and I am fond of the boxer motor despite some naysayers. But yeah, the 2.0 toyota motor would be cool. I'm sure they could get it up to the 200hp marker. Though I think the current toyota motor is tuned for 87 octane?

That's just demonstrably not true... There is almost no other vehicle on the US market that suffers from a "dip" in the torque curve as significant as this platform does. We need to stop making excuses for poor engine design and calibration.

For reference, here's another 2.0L engine in a 2 door sportscar (ND Miata) that directly competes with the BRZ and is price competitive...

The torque dip is due to the boxer engine layout, and nobody else (almost) uses these. NA Porsches have a similar dip. Here's a dyno of a 2006 Cayman S:

It looks that they are using an older idea under a new purpose, which is the high speed combustion. They say at the beginning that this is the key technology.
