However, I'd consider myself somewhat experienced with tuning and would like to do all my own datalogging, map editing, etc. But Im not going to pay everytime I want to simply reflash the ecu, nor become some registered master ultimate jedi tuner just to edit my own maps. And I have no interest in OTS cookie-cutter maps that I cant tinker with.

Could anyone point me in the right direction please? Much appreciated if so!
If you get Ecutek and a standard licence, it will allow you to tune your own car as often and as many times as you like. You just need to download the ProECU software.

With a standard license, you do not tune a turbo car with SD, Ethanol, ecc
you need also RaceromBRZ license or you do not have access to any of those custom tables

Is there any software which let's you dyno-tune the FA20 by changing map entries on the fly?
By dyno-tune I mean:
1. hooking up the engine on an engine dyno.
2. Setting the dyno to keep the engine at a predetermined cell say 6000 RPM, 80% load. Then change the advance in steps of say 0.2 degrees and record the change in torque for every step and noting the value of advance when torque wax max just before knock.
3. repeat step 2 for fuel map.
4. repeat steps 2 and 3 for other cells were increase in torque is required.

from what I understood the available software you prepare the whole map, upload it to the ECU. Then take a log of a run and study the log, see were it was rich/lean and adjust the fuel, see if there was knock and retard the spark otherwise you can advance. From the MAF you have an indication of the power gained or lost.
But maybe I'm missing something.

You might need a motec for that

Well, given that ecutek can put several tunes switchable, i guess there might be at least few sets of timings to try out that way without reflashing.

You mean replace the ECU. Do Motec have a replacement ECU for FA20?
Thanks

Yes you can alter fueling , ignitin riming and cam riming on the fly with ecutek tune software.

However it will cost quite a bit

You will need standard ecutek pro ecu kit

An ecutek blutooth interface adapter

Racerom extension pack

This will allow you to add and edit racerom cuatom maps.

Tge blutooth interface allows you to interact with ghe tune parameters on the fly up to 5 parameters

You then need to create custom maps that offset the base riming fueling and cam timng maps.

You can then alter (offset positiove or negitive ) these 4 or five maps real time

Thanks Steve99. Could be a cheaper option than Motec. However I did not understand the flash points and flash fees for Ecutek. To me it seems more complicated than tuning an engine!!

Best tuning system for forced induction is what tuner that will tune your car uses. In almost all cases it's Ecutek.

Given the times, I was playing around in my phone ecutek app and changed one of the values “sport, normal, economy” to economy and saw some of the worst of my mpg. I didn’t change the map via cruise control stalk. So it started in one map but changed some parameters.

Wondered if anyone knew more about this. Potentially this gives 6 additional different tunes? Not that any of them are worth messing with. It’s nice to have more information though.

those parameters have nothing to do with the ecutek tuning system per se
It s something your tuner has created for you so you have to ask your tuner

Also, if your car is still NA, "economy" is a bit ridicolous, because our engine would consume less fuel when the tune is made to give you the most possible power.. meaning that while it creates the most power, it also has the best efficiency so consumes less fuel
And the more octane your petrol has, the most power it can potentially reach, while consuming less

What you have, would have more sense if you have a turbo.

Ask your tuner btw
