Just get header and tune and enjoy your car and rev it out. Try turning more and forget about straight roads. The car is really fun to drive, it does not need more power for fun. Yes minivans will beat you light to light, get over it or get a minivan.

Just get a used stock engine. The forester engine might be cheaper, but it'll cost you more to make it work.

Actually it's not. If he can't afford another stock motor, he's not gonna fit a different motor without spending more money to get it to fit.

Both BRZ & Forester do have engine code starts w "FA20", but rest are completely different. Different internal, different DI, different piping (especially over-pipe) & pretty much everything else. You can't even match Forester short block to BRZ heads. If the heads are still good and gonna boost it, get IAG short block with the compression you want & get it tuned is much MUCH cheaper option. Cuz it'll be more work w custom fabs to get FA20DIT fitted into BRZ.
