Nothing against the "rub doctor," but can we have more unmolested cars chime in to verify if their drive shaft was violated by the TRD part? The violated car car has many small parts installed that may have a part in this inappropriate rubbing.

2. The other shifters you guys are comparing to (Kartboy/BPS/TWM/etc) are +$100 more expensive than this.
3. Throws are actually shorter in the TRD
Got a receipt/work order showing it was installed by a professional or the dealer? Yeah, didn't think so. Subaru will shit on you all day and a Toyota dealership might play ball if you produce a receipt though I doubt it.

Not trying to give you shit but seriously, that's not safe.

mine has this buzzing vibration in second gear only now... not at a certain rpm, but just no matter how fast I drive in second its there. and I can tell the shift throws are getting longer and longer, witch means that that dumb adapter bolt is coming undone.. again.

Was so close to ordering until reading the last few pages. Thanks for the info, guys. I recommend letting TRD USA know about this so maybe they will make an upgrade.

Get some jackstands.
Canadian Tire sometimes has sales on 2T Michelin jacks for $15.99 CAD (2 per pack).

Reason I suggested ramps was because jack stands are best if you use 4 and if you have a floor jack. A stock scissor jack will not always provide enough lift to use jack stands effectively.

Figured since he was using two scissor jacks, the idea of spending 150 bucks on a good jack and stands might be ill-received.

That being said, I don't own ramps. I use a jack and 4 stands from harbor freight. No problems thus far.

Did you use any blue loctite? Since putting loctite on that bolt on mine, haven't had any issues. No buzzing, no loosening up, etc.

Also, it sounds like you have something else going on. When that bolt starts to come loose, throws don't get longer. What happens is the play in gear/in neutral increases, particularly side to side (forward/backward play does not increase). Sounds like the adapter bolt isn't your problem.

Been using the harbor freight low profile jack and jackstands for almost 2 years now with 0 issues. I love how they have the pinch weld support in the center on the jackstands. Sorry to derail the thread, but safety is important when it comes to lifting your car.

Talking about safety - remember when you have your front wheels on a ramp and you start jacking up the rear end there is a chance that the car will roll down the ramp. The front wheels are unaffected with the emergency brake on and the car in gear. Make sure you use chocks.

well I dont have the side to side slop. but maybe its just because I got use to the short throws?? idk lol. But i was going to look under there when I do my oil change pretty soon so I will drench that bolt in loctite

I have the TRD Quick Shifter installed on my BRZ. So far no issues. Took a while for it all to break-in - initially required more effort to shift, was very notchy - but it's gotten better now. Our cars should've come this way from the factory. My BRZ has had no modifications to the driveshaft.
