Lol so much discussion over an armrest, to be fair they offered arm rest as a dealer installed option for the FRS, also If you live outside NA in the Japan or European/Aus area the 86 comes with an OEM arm rest option. I don't think it was ever offered for a Subaru. I think if this was on an options list it would mitigate a lot of complaints.

Don't know if it's been posted here but the new 86 bumper will cause fitment problem with exhaust design to fit Zenki 86.

Picked up my '17 yesterday, reserved it the day it got into the showroom Wednesday. My miata died at just the right time. The fangs really do grow on you in person, same with the new tails, the exhaust tips and "diffuser" do look a bit gaudy though. Overall this is a major upgrade from my '97 miata, I'm incredibly happy with it, should finish my break in by Thursday haha, logged 75 miles without leaving a 5 mile radius of my home yesterday. Why trade in the beautiful first gen for this? It's no way worth it.
You'd be basically getting the exact same car. The 2015-2016 had a lot of things fixed and upgraded so the 2017 is not a big difference. A lot of the reviews talk about the soft padding for your legs...but the 2015+ models all had that, yet they make it seem like only the 2017 got that and it's new haha. So don't fall into the marketing hype trap. It's the job of Toyota Marketers to make it seems like the 2017 is revolutionary. Even if you had a 2013 I still wouldn't cause for me 2013-2016 looks way better inside and out. The only time it may or may not be worth a trade in/upgrade would be when the real 2nd generation comes out. (If they change much at all)

LOL how many times as he said "no turbo" and so many ignore him. To say "no armrest" isn't like a Royal edict or anything.

How can the Toyota dude not know that is not a "vent"? I bought one, so I can't say much, but I'm starting to see "retarded" wherever I see "aggressive".

Give him a break guys, he was likely brief in a text that was translated in Japanese on the spot. It's pretty tough being a Product person at Toyota in this instance it was nice enough to even bring the 86, imagine being told one thing by engineering, another by designers and then marketing/PR translated in Japanese. Then getting few materials on it, and within the next hour you have to try to get all the info and give it to press that's been invited to drive the car.
They could have easily not do a drive of the 86 at all, from my knowledge this was a last minute add on since technically this is a piggy back of the Prius Prime and the new Highlander event. Which was the original purpose of the drive to begin with, not saying that his information is correct, but it is not easy to give out information in front of a camera when usually you're the guy behind the scenes. Also I don't think he's actually the 86 Product trainer.
