Yes it more than likely will improve your 0-60, but keep in mind that it will cut your top speed down by gearing your car lower(numerically higher) because your engine will spin faster quicker and reach high rpm's faster and in most cases make your mpg's lower as well, like a double edge sword. In ny opinion the stock gearing (which i only drive manuals anyway) is geared low enough as is.

For what its worth, going to 4.556 in the A/T was pretty transformative. I don't feel the need to go higher as future mods will compliment the ratio ie Crawford power blocks, headers, custom tune etc..

Here's a useful thread on the Cusco 4.556 ratio I went for http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27647

I do also recall reading that if you go higher than 4.5 / 4.6 you may need to update the LSD also. Mine was a straight swap out though and has been amazing since.

So, basically the low gear ratio, shorter gear, numeric higher gear is quicker(0 to 60 mph) but a lower top speed.
I am happy with my 4.67.
Now Ponder this.. How could a Suzuki Samurai(65 hp, OBD 1)first gear ratio of 3.5 something, transfer case 4 to1 low and axle ratio 4:30 with lockers on 33s. Pull a 30 foot RV with a sand rail on a flat bed trailer stuck in sand. 300 feet across the Pismo dunes , and then 300 feet in to the dunes where a small block ford f150 could not.
Gearing baby!!!!

A 4.88 fits just fine without messing with the LSD. Just ask @Lunatic. I also had a 4.88 in my car for a while, and it didn't require changing anything special, just the standard rebuild, pinion bearings, nut, seals and axle seals.

Not Lunatic but can confirm that there is no problem with the change aside from what you mentioned (which is normal stuff to change anyways). My car is hard tracked every weekend or so, in slicks, every still hold fine (except my coil pack A, that one likes to die but that has nothing to do with this topic).

Glad to hear that your mods so far have made u happy, cause for what aftermarket parts cost for these cars is an entire paycheck for a lot of people, so for what their cost is they better put big smiles on our faces. 😂 I know i was skeptical about droppin $500 on the Vishnu tablet, but it has been awesome in my opinion and has made a big difference in performance enhancement.

Yeah Skye gearing is a huge thing for performance, i am a trucker and car/truck fanatic anyway, and how do u think our rigs are able to pull 80,000 lbs or more and even up steep hills? Gearing that is, first gear in a rig will have u redlining at about 3 mph depending on your setup. Of course our big diesel motors make stump pulling torque as well, but its the very low gearing is what makes them powerful.

The down side of that Samurai was turning 4000 rpm at 65 mph with a Magna flow and headers! It was my daily driver too!!
