I only have two iPads and its because its the only thing aviation software runs on. I never buy used. Groupon is your friend as long as you are selective.

As far as trade-in, yea, you are better off selling it or donating it to a relative.

iStuff is the only thing ForeFlight runs on, and yes, it's a great piece of software. However, it's not the only alternative. I use iFlyGPS on a Samsung Android tablet, paired to a homebuilt Stratux box with GPS and AHRS for location, backup instruments, and ADSB-in. It really works great. Garmin Pilot is available on both platforms, but I wasn't a fan. There's a few others, too.

ForeFlight is the most common and most well-known, but there's plenty of also excellent aviation navigation, flight planning, and ADSB-in software that runs on the Android platform.

Garage
Lots of excitement at work today. Shooting at the homeless encampment down the street. A bunch of them took off, one pulled into our parking lot and tried to do a u-turn and crashed into the bollards in front of our transformer. They had both ends of our road blocked off and our parking lot taped off for about 3 hours

I use FlyQ (not ForeFlight) and the Avidyne 440 in my plane has a companion app that basically duplicates the display and controls on an iPad.

I looked at iFlyGPS years ago but wasn't crazy about it. May have to look again.

I haven't had a soda of any kind in years... can't stand sweet drinks. In my late teens/early twenties when I was on the road and sleeping very little, I used to drink a lot of Mt. Dew, but grew to hate it (and all other sodas) by the time I was about 24. However.. I do love hot stuff. I'd probably try it once, too.
