Who wants to know that I spent the last week painstakingly troubleshooting a freshly updated installation of an electrical harness design application only to discover that it's a new bug? I'm patting myself on the back and thanking Mark Russinovich for Procmon.

I dunno if it would have helped this guy. This board has built way before we bought the company. I have never actually seen one in person.

OH OH OH I know this one! We talked about this at work just a couple of weeks ago.
Yes they are built the same and termed "interstates" but...
Notice the H instead of an I.

Apparently they do a similar thing in Alaska. A1-4.

When we recently updated it, one person couldn't configure a default location for a certain import repository. The path cannot be typed in directly and clicking the browse button caused an immediate rejection with a suggestion that it may be due to a lack of permission to read the target directory.

Well, fuck you, shitty application. I never told you where to look but <ok>

Then another error pops up, except this time it's the dialog from Explorer saying the target for a shortcut is invalid. Makes no damn sense. The target had nothing to do with the app. Come to find out the app is searching through a shit ton of areas in the user profile which, in itself is not so unusual but it's also hanging on every single shortcut that happens to be broken.

So weird. It seems like a result of lazily cobbling together blocks of code.

that's getting to be everything these days. i can't even install a digital light switch or a thermostat without connecting it to wifi and first updating it.. and the absolute worst parts is that all the apps are designed around homeowners doing their own install, so then as an installer, i need access to the customers phone, email, and wifi during the entire process, and hope that by the time i'm all done configuring, that i don't break any one of those things.

lately been doing a lot of new houses with wifi built into all the appliances, like it's somehow useful for a washing machine to connect to the internet...

but my absolute favorite statement so far is the sticker on top of a set of LG washer and dryers. after they were entirely unboxed, there was a sticker on the lids on top of the shrink wrap that would normally be removed as part of the home building process before the homeowner ever set eyes on them.

that sticker said something along the lines of "use of this appliance and removal of this sticker means you agree to withhold your rights of suing LG, or taking part in any class action suit related to any of it's products."

Got a quote for the hot tub… came out to be lil over $9k. Hot tub fit 6~7 ppl. Not a bad price. Don’t need that huge, but got lil bit of discount (friend’s cousin owned place). Now waiting on turf quote. Monday have another turf guy coming to give us a quote as well.

I always find with hot tubs, what ever the recommended capacity is listed as, is too small so good call.

That's about $10K too much. Can you tell I'm not a fan?
