Special girl! it looks like she doubled her weight between months 4-5.

You mentioned she's Alpha. Is she displaying prey drive and if so, how are you planning to control it? I meet a fair number of GSD owners on walks and almost none of them are able to control their dog's prey drive.

I've twice had to rescue my dog from GSD attacks. One owner apologized while being pulled off her feet, the other said "he's a dog, it's what he does". I reminded him of the leash law in my county but macho man seemed to admire his dog's temperament defect that can be corrected with proper training.

She is growing like a weed!

Well, socializing her with covid has been a challenge. She is going to be a big girl, which will always intimidate some, and her bark is already scary. Now that the world is opening up, and we can take her places with people and other dogs (Lowes, Home Depot, park, pet stores) we are working on socialization. The local kids love her and give her treats every walk, and we can't walk in the park without people coming up wanting to pet her. We give them treats to give her so she associates meeting people with good. She has been doing well.

I won't lie, she is a smart, stubborn, high drive dog. But we are working hard with her, and I think she will end up being a very good dog.

We have been in training classes every week for 6 weeks now. That is helping a lot also.

Good thing we are retired!

Yeah, my boy was at Home Depot on his second day home. It helped socialize him and made him the ultra sweet dog he is today. It was back when HD employees were encouraged to give dogs treats. That ended about a year later after a couple of "incidents" but he'll still butt slam the floor and yodel when he sees an orange apron.

Yea, she also likes to nap on the A/C registers.

Here is Princess hanging out with her brother Ochi. (Princess is in the back)

Edit: my mistake, that's Mojo, not Ochi. Older and not related to Princess. Hard to keep them straight with 11 German shepherds.

The wife had a little white ball of fur similar to the one above. The dog was a Bichon Frise but had the recessive gene that gave it hair more like a Maltese. The wife rescued her from a bad situation when the dog was only 9 months old. Lady Sophia Jane quickly became a member of the family. Even our old cat loved this dog. When the cat passed a few years latter Sophie began to show signs of severe separation anxiety. I found Monte, a 4 year old champion Havanese who's owner was looking to retire him. He became her "boy toy" and things were great for many years.
Little Sophie started going down hill a couple of years ago. When I was terminated from my job I spent almost all my time with her. Even though Monte was still here she left him and became my shadow. Everywhere I went she had to come along. Even down in my computer room she had to have her own little bed. Earlier this year we had to have put to sleep. I miss my little shadow and Monte keeps looking for her in all her old hideouts.
The first photo is of Sophie in the wife's arms.
The second is of Monte
The third was a Mother's Day gift our girls gave to the wife.

Wait, you have 11 GSD's now? You must have a big shovel.

No, just one. We became friends with the breeder. She has 11. We take our dog to her place to help with socialization.

Here is Princess and her brother Ochi at their play date yesterday. See any family resemblance? Almost 8 months old.
