Tuned by BigM_Lin @Elite Performance
So yesterday, I got off work a bit early and decided to make my way down to Elite Performance to see what they've been up to. They've been taking care of my alignments, and off track excursions during the past year of BRZ fun. So far, I've done about 7 track days since purchasing the car back in 2015 and I've become obsessed in both developing my driving and improving my BRZ.
So we're chatting and somehow my car ends up on their Dynapak dyno. I've spent some time street tuning my car using Ecutek, and I've been curious to see what kind of power it would make. In another life, I tuned cars for a living. This dyno is known to be quite a heartbreaker with stock cars posting up in the 140 hp area. The guys around the shop were throwing out guesses on how much hp my car would make, and numbers were coming out in the 140 range. With what I've done to the car, I hoped I would hit 180. The first pass posted up 165 hp and 136 tq, BigM and I looked at the data and the ECU picked up some knock sensor activity, and he suggested I remove some timing up top. We talked a bit about tuning strategies, and I decided to have BigM tune my car instead. A couple months back, we test drove each other's car, and I really liked how he setup his soft rev limiter in his FRS. After loading up his basemap the car made 173 hp and 141 tq, picking up gains everywhere. He ran the car again without any changes to check for consistency and it was within 1 hp with the same curve. Checked the data, no knock activity, perfect IAM. Mods: Nameless Stepped Header JDL 3 inch Over Pipe / Front Pipe Stock Mid Pipe / Stock Muffler (keeps noise down) Cosworth Drop In Filter Ecutek TL;DL: Self Street Tune = 165 hp 136 tq TunedbyBigM = 173 hp 141 tq *On the first try*

Can vouch for Eric "BigM" at Elite as well... he tuned my JRSC BRZ on the dynapack as well. Elite also did my supercharger install.
The car made 234 whp and 192 ft/lb on the Dynapack. I’m told that a stock BRZ or FRS would generally make about 145 whp on this same dyno. So 234-145 = 89, or almost +90whp gain from the supercharger. Car is otherwise totally stock, no exhaust mods whatsoever. Car ran great on his tune at 3 track days recently... 1 day at Thunderhill 5-mile and 2 days at Buttonwillow. Ambient temps were > 100F at all these days and tune-wise the car ran fine. (The extreme heat was affecting a lot of us and we had to back off when the underhood temps got too high. Time for more cooling/venting mods!)

He did my car also SBD with flex fuel tune. The power difference was incredible. I got it tuned by EQ originally only on 91 and there was a difference in Elite's tune than EQs even on the 91 tune. These guys have done countless track tunes and I would not go to anyone else. I have an automatic and I am almost at 300hp. Only reason it didn't go that far is because he kept it at a safe amount of TQ. Once i get the transmission upgraded I will def go back.
They even dropped off my car at bart so I could go from school to pick it up without having to walk to their shop at night(around 10pm). Outstanding customer service.

I agree, their experience tuning for the track is a big plus.
Does anyone have a naturally aspirated setup that they've had tuned at Elite? Thanks in advance! |

I will soon. Once I get my CPB installed I'm planning on getting it tuned by Elite.

Wow! I absolutely love this car! Ask your baby's mama for a loan! Save your allowance, and get yourself a nice long tube tri-y header and Ecutek tune at Elite!
I drove my car yesterday at Laguna Seca, and was able to better my lap time significantly. My previous best was in the 1:53 range, and in yesterday's session I finally broke in the 1:49's. I also changed up a few things in the suspension and tires along with the tune. This is huge for me as when I first started tracking the BRZ back in 2015, I lapped 2:20 or even 2:30, it was so slow I don't care to remember. Yesterday the car ran flawlessly, and has been super easy to maintain. Just add gas. The car still has a lot of potential that I haven't been able to access with my level of driving experience. I had my friend Andre Hartanto who's a professional driver for BimmerWorld Racing test the car and he broke into the 1:45's. This is an incredible time for a NA BRZ. I'm going to write up a separate post in the Track forum to go over the details. |

Ravisraval,
I ran in Group C int/adv. Andre ran 1 session in Group A adv. What color was your car? I'm making an effort to attend all the speedsf events this year, please feel free to say hi next time. I'd like to meet other 86 drivers. Besides the crew at elite, all my track buddies are S2K and fwd Honda guys. How was your experience at Laguna? |
