Weird noises
First post here guys!
Sorry if it's a noob question and if it's in the wrong section.!!! I've had my brz for almost 5 months. About 3500 miles I have a perrin catback and an air filter installed Lately from 2.5k-3k rpm I hear a sort of hissing noise And I can feel it on the throttle (maybe because my ears confuse my sense of touch) is this normal? Also in any gear when I apply more than 80% throttle, I have this high frequency pinging noise from the engine. It was not like this the first day I took it home. Anyone know the issue? Thanks for reading! |

Are you using top tier, high octane gas .. ?? If you plug up the sound tube, do you still hear those sounds .. ?? Is your car's air filter box closed up tight .. ?? humfrz |

See my response on this thread about the hissing:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66854 My hissing turned out to be a pilot bearing. The pinging might even be related. You have very low miles to be having a similar issue to what I experienced though. I mean, it could occur at any mileage, but just seems less likely.

I run 91 chevron normally. Never anything lower.
My air box should be tight (I could always double check :P) And I never tried deleting the sound tube. As for the pilot bearing. I somewhat skimmed your post. It's in he clutch? I went to subaru earlier this week. They said everything checked out normal. And as for the high pitch ping, it's the fuel pump compensating the WOT. I hope it doesn't get worse and start rattling like you mentioned. :// Thanks for your inputs dudes. |
