jdl ultra quiet vs 2.5" catted front pipe
So i just installed my 2.5" catted front pipe and my cold start is 95db from about 3 feet away. I would prefer it be less loud, but how much would a jdl ultra quiet reduce it? Would it be just as quiet as a stock FP?

Stock front pipe would be quieter but if you wanna spend the money and try it, it might be a little quieter.

Cheaper and better to get oft and change your start up parameters in.

do you want me to dig up the email? and honestly jesus fucking christ could have said otherwise and it doesn't change the fact that this is NOT what i asked, and will not do anything to stop me from being flagged for noise violations in autocross. |

What is your sound limit? To be fair you didn't mention AutoX in your first post, only cold start. So getting pissy about it isn't going to get you much help, especially when it is common to disable cold start. The reason for it is to heat up the cats quicker. Your biggest issue is you running a Tomei 60S. I haven't heard a single one of those that was remotely quiet with a catless header.

well PA law is 92dB from 50 feet away on a hard surface. I'm probably under that but i've seen people flagged in both regions i go to. I don't know if there is a hard limit tho. I know the cops got called on some kid in a cat, and straight pipe cars have been flagged before. i believe a guy with a hks hipower got flagged at 108dB once but that is a louder exhaust than mine. I guess well wait and see |

I went from JDL UEL with stock front pipe, to same header with Nameless catted and hermholtz resonated front pipe, to JDL 4-2-1 header with a Gesi catted JDL Ultra Quiet front pipe. Stock was the quietest by far. The Ultra Quiet is generally quieter than the nameless front pipe was but not really an apples and apples comparison due to the header change and it wasn't a massive change.
