On 18x8.5 + 42 offset. As for the rubber, not too sure what to go with, which is why I was asking.

i would go wit ha 245/40 personally. that will be perfectly "meaty" or "square" on that size wheel. i know its not ideally close to OEM spec, but lets face it most of us don't care if the speedo is of 1 or 2 mph...

are you looking for summer tires or something to use all year round. what is your budget.

Thanks for that. I'm looking for tires that I can use all year. I don't plan on switching tires every time so one purchase would be great.

With that being said and that post that you quoted, I might go for 235/40 then. I'm also planning next year to get Ohlins coilovers, so that might change my decision, maybe not?

get nokian WRg2 or continental DWS. i run DWS as my winters, pretty decent all season.

however you should know that an all-season tire is a jack of all trades, master of none.

i'm still saying 245, i hate stretch. any stretch. HATE IT. LOL.

I'm looking to upgrade from Michelin PSS 265/35/18. Tire rack offers Tread width of 10.1" for them, which means they run wide, for example that is the same width for Ventus V12 285/30/18....

Wheels used for them where, 18X9.5 +40

I WANT Square 285/35/18 NT05s, but I can't find anywhere how much wide they are compared to the MPSS (obvious BRO, 265 to 285... it's not that simple, same "size" tires have different widths). It seems NT05 275s ahould fit, considering the MPSS run wide and are about the same width as the 275's NT05.

So Help???? Feasible? 18X10 +40 wheels. Any ideas? I'm willing to roll/pull a bit of fender, but I don't even know if its just impossible on stock fenders.

Blah blah blah overkill, better compound, etc etc......

MPSS 265's are not enough currently. Also no point in getting say smaller NT05Rs, I want performance and willing to sacrifice wet traction but not looking for drag radials...

If not possible, I'll stick with 265's....

The nt05's were comparable with my rs3's as far as traction goes. Both were a useless tire between 400-500whp in anything other than 4th. Above that I could spin from 70mph on the highway. We ran 275/40/17 nt05R radial on 17x9.5 et38 (rear) on Brady's car with only -1 camber. Sorry I don't have too much to give, just some info on sticky ness

Wow..... that just sucks. The RS3s/NT05s were 265s?

PSS are useless too at 500 under 4th. So was looking at NT05, RS3, RE71R, Rival S or ZII......

Your input is very valuable. I would really like to hook some of 2nd and definitely 3rd, but man I want to avoid those drag radials as much as possible... might be a pipe dream...

i ran a 255 nt05, and a 265 rs3. so not exactly the same but pretty close and they both performed about the same as far as grip. i ran the nt05 on my avo kit at 400whp for a while. i could make 3rd work most of the time.

with the first full blown setup at 525whp i could easily spin making a pull in 4th

with the new turbo at about 600 i could drop to 5th around 75 mph and burn up the rears lol

if i were to try another street-ish setup, id try r888's. they tend to grip more like a radial. honestly, i wont every switch back from the mickey et street radials at this point. i can dead hook at 22psi boost on full air pressure. haven't tried at full boost with lower pressure yet. can also hook on a 3rd gear pull at full power at full tire pressure as well. its been raining non stop here so i have not been able to do as much testing as i wanted yet. or get to the track

also, there is a 245/40/18 mickey thompson et street radial II that would probably work better than most 275/285's in other brands. they do about as well in the rain as any other "almost" drag radial summer tire. fyi, anything over 26" is iffy. i dont have much room front to back on my rears with a 26"

@Sportsguy83 is there any reason you're not considering 17x10?

your obvious solution is te37/CE28/ZE40. or just get something custom form CCW (which is somewhat local to you) or something else thats custom like forgestar (but i'm not the biggest fan of them)

if you roll and slightly pull the rear, roll the front by the side marker you will have some serious clearance if you run the appropriate offset, maybe even a +42/45 on a 10" rim. with my +40's i would say it would be tight in the rear with anything bigger than that MPSS tire you just ditched. i know @OmarGC runs 18x10 with a 265 zII square which also runs wide.

but i'd imagine you want to be in the same alignment specs as i am, which is less than -2 in the rear.

the biggest question is budget, if your'e okay with spending 3k+ on wheels, then the sky is the limit. but if you want to be in the moderate budget like me, you don't have THAT many options sadly for wheels because 5x100 is the kiss of death, and then if your' like me and have brembos you might as well shoot yourself in the foot because nothing fucking clears unless you got to a +22 offset or something completely utterly useless like that.

you can go to an R-comp though, it all depends what more important to you $ and treadler, or grip and a new set every summer or 4th track day? can't have both really.

Enkei makes a 17 and 18x10 +38 rpf1 in 5x100 so that would be a decent option. Could easily get a couple millimeters machined off of the hub to make them +40 to +42 safely as well.
