going back isn't an option here for me. this is a one-way trip only.

would they take me back? most likely, especially 6 months from now when he starts to realize what he's missing. but honestly, the reason i started looking is the toxicity with the boss. main reason i've stayed so long is that i get paid better than i could make anywhere else, same field experience or not. but there just comes a time where the pay doesn't justify the treatment, and i'm just reaching that point where i'm dependent on the pay, but tired of the treatment.

i admit, it's easy to focus on the dollar amount going into the pocket, but work is always more than that. too early in the process yet to see the full benefits/deductible package, but what we've discussed is already leaps above what i have. in all reality, everything is close to a wash, just with slightly less money in my pocket, but with slightly better benefits that i wouldn't be paying out of pocket for. at the very least, this place intrigues me being a more automotive-focused place, with a heavy focus on machinery and fabrication, which has always interested me.

i've always hesitated changing jobs in the past and just dealt with the boss as-is just because there's no guarantee any other place is any better. every job has it's negatives, and i know how to at least deal with the current negatives better than learning a new set.

i think the appropriate term for where i'm at would be 'guarded optimism'. i hope the management situation is better, and the work interesting, but only so much to know until i actually get into it.

Do you think you'll get invited back for a second interview, or did they already offer you the job?

Agh...I'm without car at the moment.

My son's 2014 Ford Focus is in the shop for the third time in 6 weeks because of a the infamous Ford transmission issues. The TCU has been replaced twice. Now, the day after getting it back for the second time, the check engine light is on. My guess is they knocked loose an O2 sensor or some such when repairing it. Fortunately Ford has been covering under their extended transmission warranty on this model.

So, he is still driving the FRS since he is in his internship to finish his Psych Master program and has to have a car.

In the meantime, on Saturday, my Suburban started making a sound somewhere between "playing card in the spokes" and a rapid fire machine gun.

The transfer case is shot and needs replacing, so it is now in the shop for that. That, unfortunately, isn't covered under anyone's warranty. I considered scrapping the Suburban (it's a 2004 with about 190,000 miles on it) but repaired it is worth more than the repair, and otherwise it runs like a clock.

The more I read about job issues like @soundman98 the more I'm glad my next job will be no job.

I'm coming up on 10 years at my current company (longest time I've been at one place). With any luck I'll make it another 20 months, and then I'm out of here.

So Im getting my new SARD FRP wing today, and was thinking about selling my OEM one. What would be considered a fair price? It is in immaculate condition though, I wrapped it as soon as I got the car, just have to remove it and then clean it up a bit. I see they go for $400 MSRP, Im thinking maybe $250 ish give or take?

Like with many OEM parts for these cars you may not be able to give it away!

I guess I missed the post on dealing with your boss and how toxic it is. At that point if you have an option elsewhere I would take it, even if it is with the intent of it being temporary.

He needs to ditch that Focus. I had one, it was a hunk of shit. Mine had EPS issues as well.

I'd just sell the Suburban when it is time. It's surprising how many people buy cars for parts, and if it is in decent shape with just high miles someone will fix it for the right price. Will probably be more then you get for it then scrapping it.

What tcoat said.

I have a ultramarine spoiler kit, and a sliding armrest kit still in the boxes. Wonder if I could sell them?

The armrest would probably sell in a heartbeat but the spoiler will sit forever.

I've done 2.5hr each way commute.. yuck!! Never again.. and then went to walking to work.. office just up the road from where I lived.. 5mins walk.. The company moved to about 2miles from home and I decided to walk.. went through loads of sneakers, enjoying the walk, time for music and declutter the head!!

Now, 1hr train journey to work.. again not too bad...
