BRZ Japan verified 4 more hp vs North America

I'm sure you could spend $500/hp and make it equal if that's what floats your boat.

Im pretty sure nobody felt the 5hp bump in the 17+ refresh of the twins witht he manual gearbox, they sure as hell arent going to feel the 4hp difference in the new ones.

what they WILL feel is the filled in torque dip ant the additional 30 hp and torque that the FA24 produces over the FA20.

That extra 5hp gained the '17+ one whole *tenth* of a second 0 to 60, and also a *tenth* and 0mph the 1/4 mile! Woohoo! But the red intake manifold is to die for :P

If it's due to emission standards, could the difference only be the cats? No problem there, they can come out easy!

If it's the fuel injection, a tune will probably get rid of it too. So if it's not a super manifold or another pricey parts I'm not worried. Cause yes I want to get the max hp from NA, you can call me crazy!

No matter what it is, any upgrades or a tune would help regain that power and add more. It basically leaves North American models more on the table for power gains so to speak.

Eh, no point being sour about that. Even if you're one of those purists of no mods, a simple drop in panel from your favorite manufacture will probably net that 4 hp.

If I only had 4 more HP all these years, imagine what life could have been like.

In a world of plastic engine covers the ‘17 refresh red crinkle aluminum intake makes for the best looking engine compartment of any car in that price range of the period. Period!
Say what you will (and people will ) about that box of bolts, but I love the uniqueness (look, sound, and feel) of the FA20.

I'm surprised they went back to the black plastic intake manifold on the 2022 model. Maybe they'll reintroduce the red aluminum manifold in a few years with a Performance Pack edition.

I could easily see running them on an E85 tune and leaving the rest OEM engine wise; for a while. From a bench racing scaling standpoint, they should do "stock" K24A2 swap numbers on the corn no problem. Not enough to influence those of us with paid off cars but new owners are getting a great base.

Anecdotally, I did compare the data from my '17 BRZ against another 86DC competitor who has the pre-facelift manual BRZ. Even though he is generally slightly faster in corners as he's a much more experienced driver, my end-of-straight speeds are frequently higher. There are of course a few other variables here and there (final drive, tune, header, aero drag), but overall I'm pretty convinced 5–10 hp difference can be noticed in data.

Not so sure about the butt dyno detect'ability though.

Welp, I’ve got a 17 PP, and my son had a 14 FRS. I could most assuredly feel a difference between the two. Between the 5hp and the gear change, mine FEELS notably more spunky. I’m no professional race car driver, but I’ve owned more than a few manual fun cars, and it weren’t my imagination

The shorter gearing on yours makes a more noticeable difference than 5HP.
