I used to get Shell 91 only when I first got my car but then I was in a jam one day and got Esso 93... I couldn't tell any difference honestly and now I've switched to mostly Esso 93 since the points add up so damn quickly for the free car washes.

Somehow I was misinformed then, I had heard the opposite, but just did few google searches finding pretty much what you're saying... I don't know how I ran into that before... Ethanol it is then.

If you think there would or should be a difference in performance, on the same tune (likely the stock tune) you really don’t know how any of this works.
I prefer the added knock protection and only run 94.

@StraightOuttaCanadaEh @Jordanwolf @Tokay444

I've only used Shell 91 (unless I run out of gas with only a Petro or Esso nearby) mainly due to the crickets. Every time I fill up with anything other than Shell V-Power the come back and are SO LOUD for a couple tanks.

My wife even works for Petro-Canada head office and I don't use it

Crickets never bothered me in my ‘16, and are non existent in my ‘17.
These are the quietest DI cars I’ve owned.

You're right fam, I don't know how it works. Thanks for your valuable input, you probably only needed to say that last line though.

You should hear my crickets now. They mutated into some kind of freaks and there's all kinds of noises coming from the engine bay now.

Strange cause I'd say the exact opposite. Lots of crickets, lots of other noise... chirps, squeaks

Knock protection always surpassed noise suppression on my list of priorities.

So far just been using 91 no crickets noise except for higher octane than 91 that’s how’s the cricket noise comes out.

I meant to say we seem to both have the '17 86 and use the same fuel but yours doesn't have crickets and mine has crazy ones, and is noisy as hell in general in the engine bay.
