Hi everyone, glad to be joining the community.

I live in NYC and I don't even have a license yet (a car is completely unnecesary here lol) but I've always wanted a car and I'm finally approaching a point in life where I can afford to own a car as a luxury.

I've looked at mainly Audis in the past (for their quattro AWD), namely the TT, S5, and A7. And I'll be honest, I always turned away from the twins because of the low HP and RWD only (being in a snowy area, I thought AWD was a must).

But I could never ignore the twins completely because of the style, price, and Toyota/Subaru's reputations for reliability.

So now here I am. Thinking about having the FR-S as my first car.

I'll be graduating with my Bachelors + Masters in December and my full time job actually starts this June. The plan is to get my license this summer, pay off most if not all of my student loans (approx 28k) and then get the FR-S on a 4-5 year payment plan. Should definitely be in a car by next summer. Sooner if I get impatient lol.

The car will probably sit in Brooklyn at my GF's house and be used mostly on the weekends. I live in manhattan and my job is at 40th street. No parking anywhere unless I want to pay for a garage (two garages if I want to drive to work). This is basically what I mean about the car being 100% luxury and 0% necessity lol.

Good to see a young man ..... with a plan ......

Yep, the FR-S would be a good car for you to consider.

I reckon the 200 HP will scoot it along as fast as NY traffic will allow...

As far as snow, if you put on some good winter tires, the car should be able to cope.

Congrats on your upcoming graduation(s).......

Haha thanks I see you're the semi-official welcome wagon?

I'm going to do my best to avoid the traffic. Travel early and late at night rather than smack in the middle of the day on a weekend lol. Will probably start watching traffic maps to get a good idea of when the least congested times of the day are.

And yep, I read about driving through the snow in a FR-S on these forums. Its actually how I found the forum, I googled "FR-S in the snow" and the first result was a thread from here lol.

I do want to get more power later on though. Will probably take it to a tuner to get a turbo kit professionally installed. As much as I love tinkering and DIY, I don't have the space or time necessary to tinker with cars ):

Thanks again, for the congrats.

New to this forum

Hi guys, Im new to this, Ive never really join any club or anything with cars for that matter but i did find this one just dedicated to my car and i couldn't wait to join in. I have a red manual Scion FR-S and im in complete love with this car i cannot get enough of it. The only thing I have been looking for for my car is the the bike rack that you install on top of the car i haven't had any luck with it, so i was wondering if any of you have heard of an after market bike rack for the FR-S. Thank so much love knowing this page is here!!!!

I see that all the time =.=

Massive range rovers rolling around NYC with just one person. At most its some mom, her baby, and 5 other empty seats

But haha too bad we're not closer to each other (geographically)

Manual is hard at first but then it gets easier to drive.

Hey guys how's it going? My name is Tim, I don't have a FRS/BRZ yet but it's in the works. I currently drive a lightly modified 2012 Scion TC. I bought it right before I started college and it has been an awesome little car. But the first FRSs showed up the day before I signed the paperwork for my TC and I knew I had to get one eventually.

I've been a long time lurker on the forum but it's finally come time that I'm going to be in a FRS, so I figured I should finally join up and introduce myself.
