Got an alignment yesterday... -1.05 and -0.65 front toe. On my old chevy... DAMN! No wonder it drove like shit. I 100% gutted it, and now the rebuild starts.

Totally off topic, but OK4WD has series I ARB fridges on sale... I cant decide between the 50L and the 63L... Anyway, happy tuesday!!!

I have been looking at doing something similar. I need something to tow the car to the track and the truck to the mountains and I would like to be able to camp out of it.

I'd go big on the fridge. I don't think I have ever thought "I have too much cooler/fridge space," while camping.

I have a 3/4 ton van, but it only has the 4.3L. So, I won't be towing much... I bought a cheaper van to see if my wife and I used it more than a few times in a year. (plus, I'm going to learn what to do and what not to do on my old chevy, not a "fancy" sprinter) If we do, I am selling it and buying a high top 2.7L sprinter and doing a conversion.

I agree more fridge space is awesome. I have a giant 110 Yeti Tundra that I love, but a fridge is soooooo much nicer.

I have purchased for this project so far.

Two trojan T105 6V batteries, battery monitor, battery isolator, 2awg wire, 2000W inverter, 6 dimable LED puck lights, fuse block, 12v water pump, faucet, bar sink, clean and grey tanks, maxxair maxxfan deluxe, new shocks, new ball joints, new pitman arms, new steering arms, new bushings, 1" thick foam board insulation, reflectix insulation, glue, spray foam, foam board adhesive, carpet, carpet glue, plumbing flex hose, shower head for outside, fittings, 3/4 plywood for floor, 1/4 plywood for walls, mattress, hinges, screws, brackets, Teflon strips as drawer slides( the drawers can be bigger, and they are insanely cheaper, like https://www.drifta.com.au/ Uses) ... I am sure I am forgetting a few things...

Waiting to see how much room everything takes to buy my fridge. Want to make sure it fits...

Finally, I hope to get a right side 270 degree awning... So cool!!!

Bigger fridge = more power draw when camping, I'd think. So get another battery too, in parallel.

I like the concept of van life, but I like the concept of Tesla life even more. Buy a Model S with unlimited supercharging. Tint the hell out of it. Mattress in the back. 24 hour fitness membership for the showers and bathroom. Stealth camp anywhere in the country. AC/heat comfort all night. Charge for free.

Thanks! The ARB fridges only have a 0.9amp draw and are considered the Best available. I am also running two 6 volt deep cycle batteries in series. (it is a very common setup) I would love a LiPO battery, but OMG are they expensive.

The two batteries I'm getting weigh 124lbs total. Have about 100ah capacity and will cost $300 +core charge. One lithium battery is $1000, but has a 300ah capacity and only weighs 24lbs.

TeslaLife sounds interesting, but my van is being built for touring National parks, camping off-grid, and festival camping for up to a week. So, a Tesla is not really going to fit the bill for my needs... (not to mention way out of my price range for a 4th vehicle) I'm going to have $6 to $7K into my van when it's ready to hit the road! I sold my favorite ATV, a TRX450R, to fund this new project.

I also just got the Exped duo Megamat 10. (possibly the best two person camping mattress) I LOVE IT! It's going in the van. it is 52" x 78" x 4" , basically a full.

T105's are burly. We deal Trojan Batteries. 300+ core is a pretty good price. It's really not far off mid tier dealer cost.

That's good to know, thanks! The T105's came highly recommended for my application. Really excited about the project. I'll be sure to post a few progress pics every now and then. My plan is for the build to be done by my birthday at the end of July.

you're lucky. I wish I could get away with that. while in Ireland of the 3 places we stayed this was likely the "lowest" of sorts.

Throwing this out there @Leonardo.

I had a 3way fridge in my hunting trailer years ago. When I had it on propane, it had a flame the size of a bic lighter, and would freeze the contents if I wasn't careful. A gallon of propane would run it for months.

Anyone watching Women's World Cup? It's been interesting group stage so far. USA have a lot of expectation to win again. I'll be cheering for Japan, but I'm hoping to see France win it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, the three way fridges are amazingly miserly when running on propane. Their downside is their size, vertical door that "spills" the cold air out, and that they require a propane exhaust vent to be installed.

The chest style DC fridges have a larger interior area compared to their exterior dimensions, can be easily used in a different vehicle (they are the size of a med to large cooler), and do not require an exhaust vent. If I was building an off the grid cabin or outfitting a larger RV; I would totally go with a 3-way fridge! Thanks again!

Hey guys, any chance you have some advice on how I should handle insurance claims right now for the damage to my car?

My own insurance knows I'm at-fault, but continues to lowball me on the repair. They insist on only repainting the bumper despite me asking for a new one, and they're completely ignoring the hood because it has no visible damage despite the video showing that it buckled during the impact. Their latest estimate for me is about 700 dollars plus my 500 dollar deductible.

The other party's insurance has accepted liability and their current estimate is about 1200 dollars and they currently aren't saying to replace the bumper or hood, only to remove the bumper and re-finish/re-paint it.

While the damage to the bumper isn't significant (no large dents or bends) there are enough small issues, including it being permanently pushed into the hoop/mis-aligned that I'd prefer to try getting a new bumper. The bumper had no damage before the accident and since I bought the car new I kind of don't want to be driving and knowing my bumper is a "repaired" bumper that may not have 100% structural integrity like it used to. I feel the same way about the hood.

@Clipdat looked over the damage and feels similarly.

But neither insurance is really going above and beyond, and I feel like most insurance would be doing the same thing. But I wish my own insurance were trying to help more since I've actually been paying my premiums on time and everything since I bought my car.

My insurance has been quite bad the whole time, even down to my agent trying to up-sell me mid-call on renters insurance to lower my premiums during the first conversation I had with him about all of this...

I'm leaning toward just having the other insurance deal with it but that kind of goes against what I originally learned, which is that my own insurance is supposed to "chase them down and get money to make the car how it was prior to the accident."

My parents have given some great advice, except that they are not car people so their opinions haven't been as useful. I mean, this isn't a Camry or other family car.

The good news is the other party's insurance has accepted that I will get an appraisal for diminished value so I should be able to get something that way too.
