2014 Infotainment/GPS Incredibly Slow

So, I have a 2014 Subaru BRZ Limited I recently bought and noticed how slow the media/etc. is on the infotainment. It was whatever to me and I just assumed that it was more than likely how the technology was stock. I just recently started using the GPS and noticed how unbelievably choppy it is and was wondering if this was normal (I assume it is), and if so, is there any way to possibly speed it up and make it less choppy(settings, etc.). I am 90% sure this is just how slow the infotainment system is and can deal but thought I would ask to see if there was anyone else that has messed with it and its settings for optimization. I've heard rumors of Subaru updating the machines but found those to more than likely false altogether as there is no data on the device. Just curious all around as to the rumors of the device and how well it actually can perform, specifically whether my very choppy GPS is abnormal.

I recommend replacing the radio with a more modern aftermarket unit.

Crutchfield is an excellent retailer that’ll let you pick out a radio and they will build the harness for $25, so it’s truly plug and play. Install is very easy, takes 20mins.

My favorite is the Sony XAV-AX5000.

JDM radio filler panels can be found online, they look much better than the generic ones:

I love the look of it. How fast is it compared to OEM when it comes to connecting on vehicle start and just over a usage? Also does it have a decent GPS option that runs smooth? Seriously considering getting it as it is one of the cleaner models I’ve seen.

The clean look and UI is one of the main reasons I like it, most aftermarket units look waaaay too flashy and chintzy. It does not have built-in GPS though, you need to use CarPlay or AA for navigation, which works brilliantly. It also doesn’t have a disc drive, but Bluetooth streaming supports APTX and AAC, so it’s crystal clear even over BT. It starts up within seconds and is always very responsive.
