Small Headless Audio Setup

Hey folks, I thought I would just share this small Headless Audio setup!

Why?

I never liked the OEM head unit and it's inability to quickly connect to Bluetooth. Head units really show how old cars are....

What?

I created a smoothed block off plate with 2mm thick abs and some epoxy for where the head unit used to live. There is a simple Bluetooth controller in the glovebox that nearly instantly connects to my phone. Volume, calls, and music all managed through my phone.

I used a small Bluetooth amp (boss mc900b) to replace the head unit with similar power output as the OEM head unit with the typical metra harness. All of the speakers are working as expected and the only tricky thing was that the harness mislabeled the blue wire that is used to power the OEM amp and the door speakers (there is a great thread on this in here - thanks!)

I still have to clean up the colors a bit on the block off plate and the mounting solution for the amp.

This was my first audio car project and I learned so much including:
- how to join two wires with soldering and heat shrinking protection
- standard wire colors for car audio and what all the wires do
- acquired the OEM harness adapter - I love not needing to cut up the OEM harness.

What's next?
- planning on replacing the USB and 3.5mm port with a USBC and 3.5mm port connected to this amp.
- hardwire a massage charger to better position the phone a bit

Thanks for reading!
