oops

That's not a bad thing :p

The Ace header + E85 takes the car to a F20C style powerband.

Time for new goals: F22C with a Rotrex C30-94... and a stock clutch.

I went through about half the pages here so far, so sorry if I missed it, but has anyone made this kit look good? I'm looking into this kit for CARB legal reasons and reliability, it seems to be best, but I want to make it look good too. Nothing like a SEMA show car, but dress up the engine a bit. Maybe a box for the intake or something there, some polishing and painting. Some CNC bits. Anyone done that?

Because a beautiful engine bay is just as nice to look at as a beautiful interior or exterior. Do you really have to ask why?

I don't believe anyone has, but if you make some pieces, I'm sure people will want them

The primary reason most JR owners chose the kit is for its reliability and functionality. Most of them only pop the hood to check their oil and brake fluid.

Few days ago I got a new FNG beta from @DeliciousTuning...very impressed. I haven't logged yet and I wouldn't know how to review logs but the driveability and power delivery on the street feel fantastic. I liked the previous version but this is even better. Can't wait to try in on AX and track - thank you

I understand. The comments on the looks of the kits have been underwhelming compared to other kits, but the pros like you said, reliability and functionality, outweigh any shortcomings it has in finish. With that said, I was curious if anyone had put some elbow grease into making the kit look as good as it performs. For context:

Ten years ago when I was 23, I swapped a 2jzgte engine into my NA Supra, and after converting it to a true twin setup, I spent hours hand polishing the aluminum on the engine to get some bling to the engine. I added a few aftermarket parts and here was the result. Nothing big, but something I could look at and enjoy and something to be proud of.

Flash forward 10 years and my bike is no different. Yes the clip ons change the riding experience, and the adaptation of the 848 super bike exhaust adds some deep note and performance over the stock cans, but I dressed up the bike to make it my own and so I can admire it. Because no one can admire it while I am carving canyons, just like very few would be able to admire my engine bay except for me, but thats what I want to do, create something I can be proud of and enjoy looking at.

I wish I had the resources to make products. I made brackets for my one off steering damper for my Ducati in my garage. I welded the 848 exhaust and m796 heat shields and made a custom undertail for my Ducati, but this is all amateur stuff in my own garage. It turned out nice, but it doesn't look like CNC quality.

I will be posting some pics of my engine bay after I get done with it. Although the caveat would be that I am doing it for SEMA. So I don't know if that makes it unqualified for what you're asking about.

Everyone that I've shown my engine/SC to thought it looked good.
None of them were 86 owners though.
86 owners seem to be the only ones that think it looks bad.

Those are great numbers with the Ace headers.

Any idea whether the STI clutch disk could hold that level?
