I've spent over $650 in my shift set up, which includes:
MTEC springs Custom shortened OEM shifter TRD Quick Shift Kartboy transmission bushing Raceseng Slammer (and r lock) And a fluid flush Why? Bc racecar. Did I notice any difference? Can't really say bc I changed a lot of things early on and at different times. Do I love it? Hell yea. Pretty sure I have a really rare set up (given I have a custom cut shifter). My shift knob sits and shifts much shorter than most Kartboys.

$40?! Shit! That's a steal! If nothing else, assuming that it's in good condition,if you end up not liking it,you should be able to get double what you paid for it. Enjoy.

Been thinking of a weighted shift knob as well. Since resting your hand on the shifter is frowned upon and causes long term damage. Wouldn't a weighted shift knob contribute to increased wear as well? I know it's not as much as your arm but still a lot more than the manufacturers intended to be on the shifter 24/7.

But I can say...that I love shifting my current set up vs stock and other manual cars. All my shifts feel solid and I can't recall ever missing a shift, under normal or extreme conditions.

The tranny is engineered to continously deal wit 200 ft/lbs of force. I don't think my hand, or an oversize shift knob, is going to reduce its longevity. |

Higher effort is needed, but there is significantly less slop in the shifter and the throws are even shorter. That being said, there were times when it felt harder to get into gear (had it happen a few times when tracking). |
