ACE Headers - Wait Times Ordering from CSG?

Hi all,

I'm just wondering what kind of wait times people have experienced when ordering ACE headers from CSG?

Back on August 6th (coincidentally 8/6 day ) I ordered and paid for an RHD A350 header, with the optional Greddy ceramic coating. Not cheap, but I wanted EL and a proper coating and thought that this would be the best option, so I sucked it up.

Admittedly they're RHD (ADM car) and ACE might not receive as many orders for them, and we have been going through a pandemic, but at 5 odd months, I'm beginning to wonder how long others have been waiting?

Received an update in late November stating that the header had arrived in California and was going through ceramic coating, but haven't heard much since.

Mate I've already ordered and paid for the ACE.
My header money is already spent!

I'd just like an idea of what would be considered a normal wait time for them, considering I ordered back on August 6th.

That’s pretty long, but I think my wait (LHD) was around 3 months pre-COVID. The coating did take several weeks. I agree, Mike is good about responding. I bet they are still getting slammed with orders due to people working on cars in quarantine.

I did some digging and I'm told your header is (and has been) at ceramic.

Between the holidays and a massive covid spike in the states, everything is slow.

Here's hoping. Certainly seems like the best combination of factors for anyone wishing to stay EL.

Will most likely be installed at my cousin's workshop, so I can act as the 'extra set of hands'. Any observations regarding install? I've heard a couple of sections of the under tray need to be hammered down with a mallet, and it's a good idea to use ceramic/high heat thread locker and check bolts after a few heat cycles.

It’s definitely a process. I used the Nord-Lock washers, torqued everything as close to the book as I could with all the different sockets, extensions, crowfoot wrench and still was under there five times over a couple of days. I did use new bolts instead of the studs from the header to the over pipe and never have had an issue there but you have to be really careful not to over torque it. Hammering the under tray is key and takes all of 10 seconds. I would suggest paying close attention to the header nuts. Good luck!

Thanks for that, I'll definitely pay attention to these.
Hopefully the thicker flanges introduced on the new revision will make the bolt torqueing a little simpler of a process.

Which nord locks did you use? Was it the steel or stainless? Standard or enlarged diameter?

The stainless washers have a higher surface hardness which may help the serrations bite better.

I used the standard steel washers. I don't believe I've had any problems with the nuts backing off (thankfully) - just a process to get the gasket crushed uniformly without over torqueing anything (which I have a reputation for). Interesting comment about the thicker flanges - I didn't know they changed. That might explain some of it.

My overall comment is to be prepared to check for tightness several times to make sure everything is nice and tight, perhaps over a couple of days. The good news is you get very familiar with taking the undertray on and off!
